Kronos should have all the classic Korg sounds

Post by KorgisKing »

More keyboard players would buy a Kronos if Korg would put all those classic Korg synth sounds in it. I know a few keyboard players that would buy the kronos if it had all those classic sounds in it
Synths: Kronos 61, MicroKorgXl, Ensoniq EPS 16+, E-MU Proteus 2000, Mo'Phatt, Planet Phatt, Xtreme Lead-1, MP-7 & PX-7 Command Station

Which classic Korg synths sounds?

And why don't you just begin reading some manuals and resample what you are missing, instead of spoiling half a dozen threads with your recurring personal demands for guitars, Moog basses and whatever?

Have you even begun to understand what you have in the Kronos, before asking others for more all the time?

As astute and comprehensive as your post is, I still have to ask which Korg sounds you miss. Almost the entire M1 sample collection is there (and Sharpe made a conversion tool), the Wavestation is represented with a vector joystick and wave sequencing, and the CX3, Polysix and MS20 are pretty much represented as copies of the originals. Which sounds are you missing?

Kronos has:

DW8000:
- 30 distinct DWGS from the DW8000 (on board the HD-1 Engine)

Wavestation:
- The entire sample set from the Wavestation (as part of the HD-1 Engine)
- Vector Synthesis and Wave Sequencing that characterised the Wavestation
- In fact, Kronos actually has an entire Wavestation on board!

O1W (and other Korg Rompler characteristics and features):
- Waveshaping precisely as found on the O1W series
- A plethora of samples on the HD-1 engine that were characteristic of the M1, T3 and O1W (and beyond) & including the M1 Piano Sample

MS20:
- MS20EX CMT Virtual Emulation

Polysix:
- PolysixEX CMT Virtual Emulation

MOSS (equivalent or extended)
- All MOSS capabilities (other than Brass and Woodwind): Virtual: Electric Piano, Plucked String, Analogue, Tone Wheel Organ

well the kronos is the most powerful workstation to date.. i'm sure that your wishes will be satisfied somehow in the future.. maybe new user samples emerges, new expansion, new synth engine (possibly).

IMHO, what i don't understand, is maybe that you're complaining too much... users of "less-capable" workstation (like mo*** or fa***m) didn't even complaint very much based on a fact that they only had 1 synth engine...
Love my kronos 88 :D
Love my yamaha psr s910 as well

Korg Kronos 88, Yamaha PSR s910, Korg C720, Yamaha DTX 520, Focusrite Scarlett 18i6, a pair of Yamaha HS80 in (soon not to be) an unproperly treated room..

The Kronos is a great keyboard and it has thousands of wonderful sounds. If you can't make music using them, then you probably shouldn't have bought it. If you wanted to make music with specific sounds from other synths, you have 3 options:

1) Sample one of them
2) Learn to program the Kronos (because it can pretty much make any sound from any other synth)
3) Go buy one of the other synths on ebay instead of complaining that the presets on the Kronos don't meet *your* needs.

You haven't thought this through. If you are stating, basically, that you paid thousands for a Kronos because of its presets, then nobody can help you. There is no way on the planet that Korg could stock the presets with all the sounds everyone would ever need. If they had filled a load of preset slots with sounds from legacy Korg synths, then you'd have a load of people complaining that they hadn't done anything new.

Korg did not design, manufacture and program the Kronos with your specific individual specific-sound needs in mind. They shipped an industry flagship synth that can be used to synthesize just about any sound imaginable.

The clue is in the word 'synthesizer'. Learn to use it, or get over it.
