Not sure how I feel about this
First and foremost it is by far the worst product video ever. Even the musicians seem generally meh'd (or still blown away by the kronos they have backstage..)

The keyboard looks like a glorified X50 (judging by the back panel)

the screen lags

they give lower paying customers a capacitive touch screen? wahh! and piano roll!!!!!!!! what!

It's a completely different interface, although I wonder if this means that things like piano roll editor (and auto power off?) might be more realistic future capabilities of the Kronos.

And, does this compete against the SV-1?

My impression is that the Krome is to Kronos as the M50 is to the M3.

This is meant to be a "light" entry level keyboard for people looking for Kronos sounds in a more affordable package. I assume rather than giving the user the actual sound engines, the user gets PCM representations of certain Kronos sounds.

I don't see any problem with a new choice. You have to expect , over time, for a MI company to intro a new , somewhat simpler product, with a few more bells and whistles.

It's called change. Most accept it. It's a business when you get down to it.

I sold my m3m May 2011. That was a fairly easy move.

I wouldn't think that used Kronos prices would be affected. M3 value is probably more an issue of age of the platform at this point. Now a used m50 might lose some value since this keyboard will likely compete in that space.

Not at all for Kronos. You don't have the "blank page" sound generation capability, for one.

Bravo Korg!

Finally they have massively improved the GUI! Now they offer drag&drop for the touchscreen and editing of parameters directly on the touchscreen and the Sequencer looks much better and improved!
There are finally velocity meters for each track, resp. timbre available, etc.

I think the KROME hardware design looks better than the Kronos design, but this is just my subjective opinion. But I think Korg has learned from the Kronos hardware problems...

It's just a question of time, until Kronos users will realize what just happened (OASYS users already know...) and soon they will begin to cry for all of those KROME improvements of the GUI and the Sequencer, which handling looks really great in the videos:

I figure Kronos will have at least one more major UI upgrade that would hopefully borrow from some of the Krome development.

Lol I just saw the rappers delight preset from the m3....so maybe its the m3 sound set with kronos piano (or at least a similar)....

Its says there is just under 4gb of samples.... so maybe its the exs2 (piano) exs3 (brass) .....all the hd-1 stuff. And a "version" of what we have in our kronos piano.

I'm not mad at them at all. God job korg. Staying ahead of and setting the bar.
