I don't believe that is possible. I think you need an audio interface, so you can have the Output of the TR-Rack go into an interface, and then the interface USB output to your Mac. I use a Tascam US-144 interface for audio and MIDI, but there are lots of companies that make them. It just occurred to me you may have a Triton rack of some sort. If you have a USB output, you might not need an interface.

You might be able to find a hardware/software combination that would let you go from the Audio (Tr's out) to the USB input of your computer using a special cable. You'd need some kind of recording software to turn the incoming signal into something useable like a .wav file/sample and your sequencer software would need to be capable of integrating it for it to be useful to you.

Once that audio is in your computer - thats it - you can'y play it out to your TR - it's audio, not MIDI.

You can record MIDI via USB-to-USB or a MIDI-to-USB interface (does TR even have a USB out?). That will allow you to record the Note-on/Note-off data stream that is MIDI. That (MIDI) can be played back to your TR, to a voice assigned by your sequencer.

You need to understand tho', that there are fundamental differences between the types of data you're talking about, how they come out of your keyboard and how they get into your computer and the format that they take on there.

Hello, thought I would post some info that might be helpful. I recently recieved a copy of Cubase 6 LE over the weekend and was trying it out and while I am very new to cubase, I did manage to get it working pretty well with my TR. (lol I even had it working with an old Casio MK-210 my aunt bought for me and my siblings to play around with when we were little as it has midi in/out.)

Anywho, the USB port on the TR is used for MIDI in/out only. Its not a usb audio interface. With it connected, you can use the TR to record MIDI data to your sequencer. Then when you press play on your sequencer, it will sent the data back to the TR and you will hear the sounds being triggered on the TR. (you can also use your TR as a MIDI controller to use other VSTis and such).

So if you are wanting to record the audio comming out of the TR, you have to route that a different way. How I do it in my low budget set up is I have the USB going from my laptop to the TR for the MIDI connection. I then have the L/R outputs hooked in to a small Yamaha Mixer. The mixer is then plugged into the Line In on my laptop soundcard.

What I do first is record the MIDI info of a song I am working on. Once I am done with the MIDI sequence and feel it sounds good, I then open up a new audio track in cubase to record the audio. All I have to do is hit play/rec and the midi sequence will then trigger the TR, and the audio track will rec the audio comming out of the TR. Seemed to work out pretty well in cubase this weekend, though I am still getting used to it. I am sure there are others on here who have been doing this for a long time and can give better info, but I hope this helps get you started.
regards,
Tim
