pa2x midi control
I want to play different channels of my pa2x on other keyboards. I mean I now play the lower track on a stage piano that I hooked to the PA2X (midi out stage piano midi in pa2x). if now I want to play let's say upper3 track controlling with another keyboard how can I plug it into my pa2x since I just have 1 midi in socket? is there a way to tranform the midi through into a midi in?
thanks, simone

Hi Tom,
I'm not sure if I've got it. I though I'd rather have 2 midi out and 1 IN since I'm thinking to use 2 masters to control the PA2X sounds is this correct?
And if I can find a midi merge box with those feature how am I going to play a upper3 track controlled by my external master without having it sounding on the PA2x keyboard. you understand that I want to play upper 1 and 2 from the PA2x, upper 3 from one master and the lower from my stage piano. for the lower is not an issue because I set the chord scanning in full keyboard and unmuting the lower it respond to the stage piano only. but for the upper3 I don't know if I can mute it just for the PA2x keyboard and not for the master. Any idea?
thanks, Simone

Hi Simone!
The Midi-merge-box have 2 ins and 1 out
You connect the midi out from your two keyboards to the midi-ins of the box and the midi-out of the box to your midi-in on the Pa2xPro, then you can play the Pa2XPro from the other two keyboards.
If upper1 and upper2 is played from the Pa2XPro and the upper3 played from an other keyboard do this setup:
Set at the track control page of the Pa2XPro, upper1 and upper2 tracks to Internal and set upper3 track to External and the sending keyboard to send on midi channel 3

Dear all, I'm here again with my doubts about midi.
I am trying to use the drum patterns of another arranger (yamaha psr3000) as further variations to the PA2x style parts.
So first I hooked the 2 keyboards like this: PA2X midi out, PSR midi IN.
My question is how to set up both keyboards so that the korg send the clock and I can play at the same time the rhytmic part of the yammi and the whole style of the pa2x.
Is that clear? has anybody ever tried something similar?
thanks!

Hi Simone!
You can turn on Midi clock send on the Master Midi page of the Pa2XPro
and set PSR3000 to recieve external midi clock.
Then you can put every track in the Pa2XPro to internal if you
don't wish it to play on the PSR3000. Track 10 is the drumtrack.
Or you can set the midi-in channels you wish not to play on the PSR3000 to off. Channel 10 is the drum channel.

Thanks Tom,
it works well, I am now able to synch the drum tracks of my psr with a style in the PA2X, it is excellent and I have extra variations for my blues styles.
Now do you think I could also play the accompaniment (the other style tracks) of the psr 3000 styles but using the PA2x sounds (that are far better?). can you suggest me how please?
regards, Simone

Hi Simone!
You have to connect the PSR 3000 midi out to Pa2XPro midi in.
In the PSR mixer you can set VOLUME=0 on those tracks you don't want
to play on the PSR.
On the Pa2XPro set those tracks to External or Both, that you will play from the PSR.
One problem is there,
and it is that the Yamaha have Bass on midi channel 11
and percussion on midi channel 9.
Korg have Bass on midi channel 9
and percussion on midi channel 11.

Dear Tom,
I need some extra help. Since your last post I tried to follow your suggestions, but it's getting difficult. I connected the 2 keyboards both midi in and out as you suggested.
Now if I use the PA2X as master I turn on the midi clock send and set the psr to receive the external midi clock and everything is fine, I can synchro the styles.
When I try the second option, so it is the psr that masters the pa2x I do the other way around and set the psr clock to control and the pa2x as slave.
Here it works fine and I can also play a midi song on the psr and have the PA2X style in synchro with the song (this is impossible to do on the korg since style and song mode are not compatible).
So I am very happy with these achievements.
My troubles starts when I have to work on the midi channels and the keyboards tracks. I am very confused. I cannot figure out what is IN and what is OUT and which keyboard is playing what. I understand that it is my mental limit, but could you please try to make a couple of clear examples on how it works?
1. You say that the bass track of a style is played on the 9 channel in korg and 11 on yamaha. in practise what do I have to do to have the Pa2X sounds to play the bass track of the psr?
2. When you say to set the keyboard tracks to external or both.... I do not understand. I think I have to do that in the Style mode-track controls. But which ones? I ask this because you write: the ones I will play from the psr, but as I said I am not sure which is playing which.
I know I am abusing of your time, but I am having fun with your help and I'd like to understand this "midi-world". thanks a lot and I wish you all the best,
simone

Hi Simone!
Some explanations of tracks and midi channels:
In the Pa2XPro usually it is set like this in style-mode:
Track 1 = Upper 1 = Midi channel 1
Track 2 = Upper 2 = Midi channel 2
Track 3 = Upper 3 = Midi channel 3
Track 4 = Lower 4 = Midi channel 4
Track 5 = Pad 1 = Midi channel 5
Track 6 = Pad 2 = Midi channel 6
Track 7 = Pad 3 = Midi channel 7
Track 8 = Pad 4 = Midi channel 8
Track 9 = Bass = Midi channel 9
Track 10 = Drums = Midi channel 10
Track 11 = Percussion = Midi channel 11
Track 12 = Acc 1 = Midi channel 12
Track 13 = Acc 2 = Midi channel 13
Track 14 = Acc 3 = Midi channel 14
Track 15 = Acc 4 = Midi channel 15
Track 16 = Acc 5 = Midi channel 16
If you have the Pa2XPro as slave
you can change any these Midi channels
on the GLOBAL-MIDI-page Midi-in:
Example:
Midi channel 9 change to percussion
Midi channel 11 change to bass.
On the Track-Control page you can change what instrument is playing that track.
This you can do also in Song-mode
where the tracks are:
Track 1 = Midi channel 1
.
.
.
.
.
.
Track 16 = Midi channel 16
On the Track-Control page you can choose what instrument is
playing on what channel (Track).
