R3 Sound Editor Problem!

Hello,
When I plug the R3 into my computer via USB cable to use with Editor program, the says it recognizes the r3 software, but the r3 never works and then the computer starts going crazy and closing programs and rapidly right-clicking all open windows. Any advice on how to get the r3 to communicate with editor? I also have one of those midi to usb cables, if that would work.

Thanks for any help... new to the korg game >:-)
