Quick Kronos Story (sorry if OT)
Sharp/Pepperpotty - any others - kill this if it's way off topic, I totally understand.
Hey all, throwing some good/happy news into the mix. I've had my Kronos (or a Kronos) for close to a month now. After advice and guidance from the board I'm happy to say I've kept it.
What I didn't mention is my reason for getting the synth is that it's part gift / recommitment to music. You see, I've spent the last year fighting cancer, and I found out tuesday that to the best of our knowledge we've won.
This kind of fight makes you realize what matters. In the course of treatment I lost some hearing (permanent tinnitus in one ear, wicked notch around 13-15khz in my audiogram), and have some numbness in my hands. I've been a musician (not exclusively by trade) for over 35 years. I was in a hospital bed when I first started really researching the Kronos and I knew it's what I wanted.
It's been a month of getting a lot of junk out in the form of writing new music. I still don't think I've worked through playing all the stock sounds (I'm currently caught up in Combis and Karma). I'm so thrilled to be done with the "patient" part of cancer and on to the "survivor" part that I'm shouting it from the rooftops.
And you all played a part in that. Thanks for the good advice and help. I've learned a lot and appreciate it.

Hi Chris,
Really pleased to hear that you're winning but sorry you have had to go through so much. As someone who has also lost part of their hearing due to a long term illness, I really feel for you. It can take some time adjusting can't it?
Music really is a great healer and when things seem really bad it can be a great way of escaping.
Hope you continue on your road to recovery.
Happy healing!

Glad to hear you're over the hump on the cancer side of things. And good luck on the hearing thing. Wishing you the best on your journey to recovery. Don't spend so much time with your new toy that you don't follow your doctors' instructions though! Let us hear what you come up with musically.

My best to you! I have serious tinnitus in my right ear. The ringing never stops and at times gets very loud. It happened in a rehearsel many years ago from the bass amp and I couldn't monve it nor myself and there weren't any ear plugs to be had. I didn't even know until I got back to the house where I was staying. Ka-ka occured!
Glad to hear you are well. Keep on playing!

I also have some permanent hearing loss and tinnitus due a chronic illness. Recently I found out (to my amazement) that all the music I have played and listened over the years has actually been theraputic and has helped both situations. I hope it also works for you.
