New Ethereal Waves Soundbank

Post by kroozwavesfactory »

Hi all,

As my first contribution in this forum, I would like to share with you a small bank made by me that could fit in any theme in ethereal / ambient / soundscapes / pads / new age mood.

The sounds were made sampling soft synths with some further processing. No external samples were used, so you can feel free using the bank without the need to be aware of "grey zones"

The link for download the bank is:

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/27441613/KWF_ETHEREALWAVES.zip

It uses 130MB of disk and 17MB of RAM.

BANK UPDATED. Please read the additional information in my new reply below.

The new link to download it is:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/2v0k2vtkdyz6i ... LWAVES.zip

Related sizes are: file to download 417 MB, user bank RAM 51 MB, Kronos HD 434 MB.

To use it, expand the zip file on your computer and copy the whole folder "KWF_ETHEREALWAVES" to the HD on your Kronos.  You need to have at least 434 MB free.

Open the folder and load the file "KWF_ETHEREALWAVES_UserBank.KSC"
and after load the file "KWF_ETHEREALWAVES.PCG" into any HD-1 Bank (default is User-AA)

I hope you like it. Any comments will be welcome.

Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing.

Check the attributes to the file. Unlike other files hosted on DropBox, this one doesn't give you the option to add it to your own DropBox account. It's a download only.

Could you tell us more about what you have used to create this bank, how many programs are in the PCG, etc...?

Hi Francois,

thanks for your comment! I've reuploaded the file and made a permanent link. I hope in that way it will be better. By the way, you can use it in your site if you like. I would be pretty proud of that :D

https://www.dropbox.com/s/lkojkend5czoz ... LWAVES.zip

The first part of that bank has 8 programs and they are:

U-AA000 GLASS ORGAN. A kind of glassy lo-fi organ as you could bet
U-AA001 STARLIGHT. A typical lo-fi FM-like bellish piano with a smooth pad as a background.
U-AA002 ACONCAGUA SPIRITS. A flutish panning sound.
U-AA003 FEMININE SCAPES. A distant woman vocal pad sound.
U-AA004 FROZEN PARTICLES
U-AA005 PALO ALTO
U-AA006 FOREST LULLABY
U-AA007 ZELESTE

The last four are evolving pads that you can tweak in some way with JS and VJS controllers.

The samples used in these programs were made from patches from NI Absynth, FM8 and Reaktor.

Isn't this a little weird, confusing?
The sounds were made sampling soft synths
Then this?
No external samples were used
And then this?
without the need to be aware of "grey zones"
Lol...i am confused.

Hi Nedim,

things aren't so complicated as you imagine  : I sampled soft synths to get waves (sounds), and import them to Kronos (after Soundfont conversion) without no use of other external samples not made by me.

The "grey zones" is a concept I saw here few weeks ago about resampling libraries that use samples, so in my case aren't these "grey zones".

I hope now all will be clearer!

I understand now but you state I Sampled Soft Synths and then you state
No External Samples used and in your case Yes, they are still external Samples,
no matter where you got them from or yours or not yours.
It was confusing. Keep in mind, there is no difference between Soft Synth
or a Soft Sampler. It makes no difference taking a Sample from Kontakt or
resampling a Sound from Gladiatior, breaking the rules is the same.

Thanks for the extra info. This time, it works, you can add the file to your own DropBox if you have an account, which is useful.

Bank info written on page Banques gratuites/Divers. Thanks.

He means that he created his own patches in the softsynths and sampled them.

Hi,

I've updated my Ethereal Waves bank, adding 20 new programs to the previous ones, having now a total of 28 programs. For simplicity's sake (yours and mine) I've merged the old and the new programs in the same bank, instead of making a new one. If you already got the first part, you can replace it by the new updated bank, given that I've also applied some minor corrections on some parameters.

You could categorize almost all sounds in Ambient, Atmospheric, Soundscapes, Textures or something like that. An ambient organ and piano, some lush / evolving / futuristic pads, dark ambient textures, etc. Sometimes is more difficult to find a correct description for a sound than listen to it, so I think is better if you try them on and see if they suit your music style.

The new link to download the bank is:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/2v0k2vtkdyz6i ... LWAVES.zip

Related sizes are: file to download 417 MB, user bank RAM 51 MB, Kronos HD 434 MB.

The default bank is U-AA with that programs list:

U-AA000 GLASS ORGAN KWF
U-AA001 STARLIGHT KWF
U-AA002 ACONCAGUA SPIRITS KWF
U-AA003 FEMININE SCAPES KWF
U-AA004 FROZEN PARTICLES KWF
U-AA005 PALO ALTO KWF
U-AA006 FOREST LULLABY KWF
U-AA007 ZELESTE KWF
U-AA008 MARE NOSTRUM KWF
U-AA009 FORBIDDEN PLANTS KWF
U-AA010 BEAUTIFUL WAVES KWF
U-AA011 MAJESTIC WINTER KWF
U-AA012 ADVENTURES KWF
U-AA013 SOFT WAVES KWF
U-AA014 EQUINNOX KWF
U-AA015 TOSCANA KWF
U-AA016 CORFU KWF
U-AA017 LOST ATMOSPHERE KWF
U-AA018 TRAVELLER KWF
U-AA019 POLARIS KWF
U-AA020 TRIPOD KWF
U-AA021 WIRELESS KWF
U-AA022 ORBITAL KWF
U-AA023 ANTARCTICA KWF
U-AA024 GENTLE MOTION KWF
U-AA025 NORTH POLE KWF
U-AA026 SPARKLING DREAMS KWF
U-AA027 DRY LIQUID KWF

NOTES
- In almost all the programs you can use the Joystick or/and Vector Joystick to modulate cutoff and resonance of the sound.
- You can play the last program "DRY LIQUID" with short-medium notes and you'll get a theremin-swept like sound or play it with longer sustained notes to hear a bouncing drops effect at the final part of the sound.

I hope you like some of these programs!

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Great job, thanks for sharing.

I don't know if it's just me, but I'm never keen on stuff written all in capital/upper case letters.

I've also updated my website to include the new info.

Hi François, I'm sorry for that. I started using only uppercase letters in my names to recognize at first sight my own programs from the standard ones, and when I decided to share them I didn't think about that :(

I will change to the usual upper/lower letters in names in the incoming banks

By the way, thanks for updating the info on your website.

Regards.

I finally found the time to explore your set a bit, and I find they sound amazing. Thanks for uploading that.

Can you some more clues where they're coming from?
