What`s the differrence between "Volume" and "

My Master Output slider on my TR is aging, so after running some Contact Spray "sessions" i`ve decided to move the Main Volume function to the assignable knobs (knob 1, i have 3 more whitch i virtually don`t use), but i`ve encountered the following issue: the phisycal position of the knob does not translate to the real volume, but only after doing some min-max screwing of the knob, whitch is a pain in the a** in live gigging!
I`m not a native english speaker, i hope you do understand me!
Not to mention that i`ve tried to implement an exp (volume) pedal (M Audio, don`t remember the model), and after fading out to zero output, it doesen`t fade in properly, but in steps, so the entire purpose of using fade in\out dissapears, leaving me with the old-fashion screw\unscrew a knob...
So, back to my question, whitch is the right volume on the Ctrl Menu for Assignabel Knobs, the "Volume" or the "Main Volume"?
