Triton LE memory expansion

I have just recently joined the forum after having bought a 2nd hand Triton LE 12 months ago.
Can I add extra Ram to the LE and how much and what type?
And will this allow me to do anything more than it can presently do?
There are some EXP-PCM01 expansion paskcs on Ebay and will these fit and what will they do?
Sorry for the silly questions but I quite like the feel and sound of this synth as I use it for my controller keyboard and balance it sounds with my Virus TI and they play nicely together.
Just wnat to know if there is any more I can do without spending lots of money.

Stock, the LE has no sample function so RAM upgrade, unless you have the sampling option installed, doesn't do anything.

The EXB-PCM boards on the other hand are ROM expansions - each comes with a large number of new/better/different sounds (multi-samples) that can then be used just the same as the multi-samples played/programmed into stock sounds. The content is ROM - no user samples can be stored on them and they have a zero load time.

These sounds usually include a couple of new drum kits (also multi-sampled) as well. [Exceptions may be the grand piano card, and one of the two orchestral cards.]

Each expansion card comes with a bank of suggested program/combi presets -- not actually presets because Korgs are completely flexible and you can keep or discard what you wish.

I think the LE can take two cards just as the Classic triton can.

Thanks for the heads up. I will check out these cards as seller has a few for sale.
With some of the patches availble to download for the LE are they new sounds or do they use exisitng sounds and change parameters to sound differant?
I have tried to load a few and some work. Others (piano ) don't work.

You do not need to have the sampling option installed in order to load samples, all you need is to have memory installed and you can load samples.

Yes, it is easy and it tells you just what to do in your manual, I do not have mine with me at the moment and I am going to be selling my LE soon. If you do not have a manual , you can download it online.

I know.. old thread and old Synth, but I just got a LE76 and I really like it. Except the Piano-Sound...
So, you´re writing, that these additional EXB-PCM fit to the LE? I´ve always thought, there is no way to use these with an LE?!?

Tom,

just had a look through the LE manual, and you were correct.

LE doesn't take the EXB-PCM boards.

It will only expand with samples - and that only after an add-on sample board is added to the keyboard.

That being said, don't give up hope, there's a lot of tweaking that can be done to the piano.

One thing you might try, and this applies generally, is using the architecture of another sound with the piano sample from the ROM dropped in.

Another option is to add a second osc from one of the digital or tine pianos.

Third option is to add an insert effect, such as dynamic filtering by slaving the EQ to velocity as an AMS source, compression to even out the dynamic range, or an exciter to add harmonics overall.

My experience is that there is no single piano sound that's going to work for everything, so have fun with it.
