iPolysix Record in real time?
Hello, sorry if this is a dumb question, but I can't get iPolysix to record in real time. It only seems to record patterns not a keyboard performance on iPad 2 or 3? Have I gone blind and missed something? Thank you

Really?
No matter what I try it will not record anything played out from the built in keyboard or Kaoss pads. I tried a solo over a sequence, and only the sequence was recorded. Synth 1 & Synth 2, same thing. I'll try again. I must be doing something wrong. Though, there aren't exactly a lot of buttons to try.

Step by step as did it
Ok this is a st.ep by step guide, if this doesn't work then try resting your ipad and then as a final resort delete and reinstall the app
1. Start app
2. Tap new song (4th button from top left looks like a page icon) select new
3. Ensure Synth is highlighted far left
4. Tap small horizontal bar below Synth button top left to open syn seq buttons
5. Choose sound patch far right. Tap Synth Int then Factory sounds then chose sound
6. Tap play arrow button 6th button from top right you will hear 4 drum bears with a start sound on 1st step (of the 16 steps by default)
7. Tap round dot record button next to play button 5th from top right
8. Play some keys and it should record notes
9. Tap Syn 2 button top left, choose different sound (as per 5) and play keys, you should hear what you played, press record button to stop recording, play button again to stop playing
Hope this helps

Records the notes in pattern
Ok, I think I wasn't explaining myself well maybe? Sorry.
It records the notes fine, I got that part, but it only records the notes hit into a pattern. Not quite what I was getting at. It won't record improvisation without automatically looping into a pattern. I don't want to record a solo as a pattern, I want to record a more organic solo.
But, I thank you very much for trying to help. iPolysix just doesn't record a performance without it becoming a sequence pattern. It takes away from the expression of a solo being boxed into a 16-64 step sequence. I see how it can programmed, and record automated parts, thats great but in this instance it just feels very awkward to me.
Thanks again.

I see what you mean!!!
Ah I see what you mean. yes this is a both a good and bad thing in many ways, this is a "retro" synth and this was the way the worked back in the day.
You are not recording a stream of midi notes as such, just the locations of the step switches.
On the other hand the voices themselves sound very rich plus I can play and record all 8 voices (2 synth plus 6 drum/bass/percussion) parts using my midi You Rock guitar
I like it!

Re: Records the notes in pattern
This is probably a bit late but you may be able to work around live recording by creating a song with a basic rhythm on say patterns 1 to 16 and and then record in song mode so that the patterns change as you record and the improvisation is spread accross multiple patterns ?

Either Korg Messed up, or I'm also an idiot
I would suggest that you simply plug into your built in imac/macbook audio port and record on garage band or something. Obviously this isn't a real solution because I myself loved doing real time recording out in the forest or what have you with IMS20, but it simply isn't possible in iPolysix.
I have to say that Korg really bugged me with this oversight.
I'm totally with you here, in the manual and everywhere else, Korg (for some reason) basically used all language necessary to totally confuse the f*ck out of me for an HOUR until I finally gave up and decided, by my f*ck*ng self, that real time recording (FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON) is not possible, despite it being a launch feature on IMS20, which is actually a HUGE bummer.
And I would have even preferred for the manual to have said in bold face "YOU PAID $31.86 for iPolysix and there is NO REAL TIME RECORDING"
The part that stings is that I paid well under $10 for iMS20 and wanted this App to be everything that interface was and more. Which iPolysix (sort of) is. There are obvious similarities in at least the basic layout of the "studio"
with your synth, drums, mixer, etc.. And perhaps that's what drove me mad, some hopeful part of me wanted to find that simple button just around the corner for real time recording, but after some time, it became clear that iPolysix had been born with a defect.
The most confusing part is that some people, at least one above, claim that the lack of real time recording has something to do with the realism of the Application, but that just doesn't make any sense either because the iMS20 real time recorder existed in some extra limbo, and had certainly illustrated no 'real world' connections and provided no emulation. It was just a simple f*ck*ng button that let you record whatever the f*ck you wanted and NOW IT'S GONE

I guess this is a late response, but audiobus makes that quite possible. Make the iPolySix the source and some DAW the target - play away - you get precisely what you play. Only downside is that its recorded as Audio so you won't be editing it easily.DemonQueen wrote:I would suggest that you simply plug into your built in imac/macbook audio port and record on garage band or something.
