korg r3 with garageband?

Post by gregbankley47 »

I got my korg r3 set up with garageband (it plays the midi sounds out of the computer) but is there a way to get these sounds (piano sounds) back into the korg r3? then through the mixer? Or do I have to go out of the computer?

No, the only way you could do this would be by running the audio from your computer into the R3's audio-ins, then setting OSC1 to "Audio-in" and making sure this is feeding from the rear inputs as opposed to the mic. There are instructions in the manual about selecting the input, so follow these and you can run the audio through. Make sure you save your patch if you do this so you have one setup to handle audio-in.

In short: no, you can't load sounds from the computer into the R3, but you can run them THROUGH the R3 and apply FX, filters, LFOs, etc. to them.

really? ok well that sounds sweet. I enjoy using garageband for its piano sounds but then I can't use any knobs or anything.. but what you are telling me is that I can go back out of the computer into the r3... hmm I'm going to try this but I may need some help! I don't have a manual... Thanks!!

You'd be completely boned without the manual if this is your first synth! Study and reference this every day for a while, it's your new bible.
