A korg Kronos & a Roland integra-7

Hi Guys
Come on everyone. I think it is about time everyone loosened up a little.
What suites one person it not going to be the product for every other person. Lets learn to respect each other a bit more without the need to get personal.
I have a Tyros 4 and a Kronos 61, I think the T4 is the best instrument that I have owned so far AND the Kronos is the biggest mistake that I have ever made. It is not that the T4 is the best or that the Kronos is the worst. I think that from a technology point of view the Kronos is far ahead of anything on the market. But it is not for me but that reflects my needs and capability, nothing more nothing less.
So come on guys it is supposed to be the season of Good Will To ALL Men.
Fred

Preferences are extremely relative and individual... someone not liking Metal will probably never like an AXE and people with an AXE will probably despise an harp, and so on ... indeed, respecting one another and others mind should overshadow the rest.
Making and enjoying music is what's all about.. yes?.. let's give everyone the space to do that and on whatever material is around or liked... hey, even Rudess plays on an ipad! doesn't mean that's bad or he is a bad musician or it's not music what he is making, does it?
If someone's gonna sit on his Kronos doesn't mean it's a bad synth .. or a good cushion, but probably cause al the sits are already taken..... or he is wasted..
......
Ease up guys

I don’t quite understand the “loosen up, can’t we all get along, it’s Christmas” plea Fred…
After all, we didn’t resort to any vitriolic personal attacks and had a rather spirited debate with some good points made by all. At least I thought so. If some were offended by any of my remarks or objections, consider this my personal apology, but please…don’t try to stymie my attempts at comic sarcasm or the ability to reply heartily to what I disagree with.
Jim and I just agreed to disagree and left it at that. Posts on these forums will always generate discussions and debates, sometimes civil and respectful, sometimes not. I take both with a grain of salt. At the end of the day, these forums are good for not only the information and camaraderie that they provide, but for some entertainment as well. I certainly will not be losing any sleep because someone on a bloody internet forum doesn’t see things the same way I do!
I didn’t miss the sly jab taken at my “hyper-negativity” comment with the WSJ article. But neither am I so sensitive as to take it too personally. GregC is very slick with his “quick chop to your gonads while you’re not looking” politeness, but that is exactly why I enjoy having a discussion or debate with him. Because it is fun! And, he is a worthy “adversary” who doesn’t resort to hateful name-calling to hide behind. I responded in kind with my “tilting at windmills” comment. Fun stuff!
What I will call out is any sanctimonious claptrap that parades as “truth” while hiding under the banner of “realism” or “objectivity.” The same blokes complaining [about posters] who didn’t own a Kronos on the RH3 keybed issue thread are some of the same ones that don’t own an Integra-7 but miss the hypocrisy when they unceremoniously slam it. Oh, the irony is just too sweet! That said, let me put myself at the head of the hypocrites…for that after all is a human condition and we are ALL affected by it whether we admit it or not!
And that is where the rub comes in…like my friend Moreno said, what is good for the goose is not necessarily good for the gander. At the end of the day, the real reason we are here is because we enjoy making music that sounds good to our ears.
All of the opinions and/or personal attacks in the world can’t take away the joy I get every time I play my synthesizers. As I said before, everybody has their own opinions, but not everybody can make music. We should all feel very blessed to have the ability to do so, whatever the name on the instrument and regardless of how or what anybody else feels about it!
A Merry Christmas to all from the Soundworld! I will be busy putting the finishing touches on the latest SWAD tune based from my “Reincarnated” set for the OASYS. And yes, I will be using the V-Synths, WavestationSR, 3 JD-990’s and may even sneak in some Jupiter Eight Zero and Integra sounds to augment the great combi…
…Doesn’t make me a bad person! I love you guys man!

I enjoyed your post. This exchange of different viewpoints, perspectives can be entertaining. There should be nothing life altering or life changing about a slight dig at the Kronos or the Integra. If it keeps someone up at night, well, there are sleeping pillsDH56 wrote:I don’t quite understand the “loosen up, can’t we all get along, it’s Christmas” plea Fred…

Hey , how 'bout dem Cowboys ?

Ha! Funny you should ask. I feel that Jerry Jones has sadly turned the Cowboys into his own personal circus-like toy ala "Jerryworld" and it shows. How many championships or Super Bowls have they been to after he and Jimmy couldn't get their ego's to coexist.Hey , how 'bout dem Cowboys ?
I grew up when Tom Landry was coach and went to games when they still played in the Cotton Bowl. For some reason, I never quite "cottoned up" to Texas Stadium, especially after Jerry installed all of those luxury boxes for his hoity-toity buddies that had the effect of cutting off the natural air flow from the gap in the upper stadium. Went to a game there in the summer once...and once was enough! Haven't been to "Jerryworld" and to be honest really don't care to go, especially with the outrageous prices!
I know, it's kind of anathema down here to root against the "boys" but I have switched to enjoying the game for seeing what clubs can field the best "team." Kudos to Harbaugh for the great job he's done with the Red and Gold out there in the Bay Area, but I think the class may still be Atlanta in the NFC and New England looked pretty strong against the Texans.
My "Cinderella" pick is Seattle if for no other reason that I just love Pete Carroll as a coach. Every since I saw that 60 minute piece about him I have had a real admiration.
Go XXXXXX! (I have become an equal oportunity rooter). Besides, the end of the most excellent Formula 1 season in recent memory has freed me up to follow other sports.
Bollocks! What was the topic again? Oh yeah, the Kronos and the Integra. Well, they both produce interesting sounds and that's good enough for me. It's what one does with 'em that counts!

No problem of any kind with the thread from my side, and really far from putting Christmas spirit to doubts.
Completely agree with DH56 and GregC: we're just discussing from different points of view, and no bit of drama. Aren't forums made for two main purpuses, namely exchanging useful infos, and exchanging (possibly different) opinions?
And yes, there are lot's of more important things than gear choices:
Merry Christmas time to everybody!

I've enjoyed your post too

Thanks Neo!
And you have given me my "slow down and enjoy life" moment for the day!
Reminds me of the time I was hiking alone in the hills below San Francisco (Skyline Drive/Page Mill Rd) and stopped for a rest amongst the tall switchgrass. I closed my eyes and could hear the wind gently caressing the grasses and moments turned into an eternity. If you could bottle and sell that you would make a million!
Enjoy life!

Does'nt bother me when people bag the Integra 7. They will never buy it and that means more for me. And when I'm playing those Supernatural sounds I really don't mind I have only 4 expansion slots. I like to mix The Motif sounds with the Roland because I find when you use several sounds from the one manufacturer it gets a bit samish(is that a word?) I'll get a Kronos next. All this gear is the ducks nuts and I can't believe the amount of people that are never happy no matter how much they get. I suppose it's human nature. So while all those people complain I'm as happy as a pig in ....... woo - hoo.
Integra 7, RD700NX, Motif Rack XS(Lan to Cubase 6.5) 61SL MK2, GR-55, DTXtreme 3 SP, Axon AX100 MK2, NI Komplete 8.

You were sooo close to the 49er practice facility. Going there would have made it a $2 million experienceDH56 wrote:Thanks Neo!

Oh you Aussie’s! You have that knack for always cutting through the dross and getting to the heart of the bleedin’ matter with aplomb! Don’t know anything about those “duck’s nuts” there lad, but I’m sure it must be similar to “the cat’s meow” or something like it! LOL
It’s almost as if this techno-this and techno-that world has produced a bunch of hyperventilated “you and the horse you rode in on” malcontents for whom as you stated, NOTHING is ever good enough. It is after all only natural that they will invariably find their way onto these forums and spout their opinions.
But hey! That is what makes the world interesting. How boring if the world all just went along and agreed like automatons about anything and everything! I say “let them eat cake” and besides, there is a turd load of useful info on these forums and you can learn a lot about the instruments that they serve and also about some good old human nature as well.
I’m with you mate! Let’s make some music with these things for crying out loud!

Big Sur- my favorite place in the world
Have you been to Nepenthe ?
Stone the bleedin' crows lad! Several times for sure and one of me favourite places to enjoy when I'm in the area. I like to browse the Phoenix as well.Have you been to Nepenthe ?
I won't say the food is the absolute best, but it's not exactly bad either and the ambiance more than makes up for it! For anyone that hasn't been, it is quite a treat. Enjoying a coffee or a hot tea out on the balcony overlooking the Pacific with the sun setting is not to be missed!
I did a lot of work in Santa Cruz a few years back and another one of my favourite restaurants was Shadowbrook down in Capitola by the Sea. Whether taking the cable car or garden path down to the restaurant, it is also a real treat. Not quite as scenic as Nepenthe, but not as far of a drive from South Bay either!
For the day hikers, the "Skyline to the Sea" trail that starts in Big Basin amongst the Redwoods and ends up at the Pacific Ocean is a 16 mile blaster that rewards the hikee with the joys of California nature in all her beauty! Oh, and it's mostly downhill. Don't forget to make sure the camera battery is fully charged!

So while all those people complain I'm as happy as a pig in ....... woo - hoo.
