starting and or stopping patterns and or songs via midi in
i have a fcb1010 behringer midi foot controller, that can be programmed to send program change messages, cc messages, and note messages, and expression pedal messages, and something called a relay switch. i know you can assign cc to knobs and control those parameters, but i couldnt find anything about starting patterns, or stopping patterns, and stuff like that. i am pretty much trying to figure out how to use the foot stomp box style midi pedal to start and stop patterns in the drum machine, while i play live drums to the electric drums. i cant stop playing to do anything. i need something fast, like this footpedal, if that makes sense. anyways. yeah. any ideas? thanks for your time in advance.
hmmm
cool. thanks for the info.
anyone have any ideas on a easy way to at least start patterns? i can change the pattern manually with the knob. i just want to be able to use my foot and start a pattern while i drum. eventually, i want to figure out how to start a pattern with my feet, and then either stop it, or have it go to the next pattern i pick. if anyone does stuff like this, i would love to know how you do it.

that should work ( you did not mention a computer before ) : do a midi mapping in Live for start / stop and enable sync out in Live on the MIDI port connected to your tribe and change the tribe's clock setting to "external" as well...CRJ wrote:not a very soft step on my pocket book though. almost 300 hundred bucks.
there has to be a way to start or stop it with this thing. maybe i can send it back into my computer into ableton, and out of ableton to the korg?
i just really do not want to have a laptop on stage, but im using my macbook running this -

so there will most likely will be one up there somewhere. going to mess with this later. fcb1010 into my midisport, into ableton, and ableton going out to my korg.

im kind of drawing a blank for some reason staring at ableton trying to figure out what to send to ableton with my foot controller, and what to send out of it to the electribe. any ideas? ideally, i would like to figure out how to be able to start a pattern with one button, and switch to a different pattern after the previous pattern completes with another button, and to let whatever is playing finish and then stop with another button. sounds complicated doesnt it? it probably is. which is why i feel really dumb right now. im going to think on it for a bit and report back. thanks for your time in advance.
ok. so yeah. i have it kinda doing things i like. now im trying to figure out how to organize it. my idea on how to do this in a fashion that will work well for jumping around to different patterns at different tempos for different amounts of time seems to be involving the locators, with a pedal on the fcb1010 mapped to them. it appears that if i program up different locators, with the tempo changed to what i need around that locator, i can easily start a tempo going i like, and jump around to whatever tempo i like, or i can stop the pattern.
now i need to figure out how to trigger the pattern i want, and all that. wish me luck.

works perfectly. i just have to figure out the number that lines up with the preset i want, and the rest is pretty easy to figure out.
