Korg PA600 first attempts

Post by midimusa »

Hi!

Finally i got mine PA600 day before yesterday!
Here is a little comparison with my previous PA500.

After 2 days i can say, that sounds are sweeter for my ear.
I can use "Favorite" Banks etc.

For USB memory stick - all stuff should be on root directory.
- Through Keyboard i can see only that files

Connecting with computer through USB:

- seems that PA600 uses an added memory
with capacities about 1GB (Korg Disk):

All my (backup) savings are saved there.

Styles from older Korg's KB works well, just need rearrange autofills.
Songbook from PA500 is totally mismatch.

MP3 sounds poor, but it catch perfect tempo change.

Anyway it was interesting deal for me and i am glad.

I have not tried internal speakers because i use external PA system.
Sound is much better than on PA500, display is also bigger.
If you wanna, i can compare the speakers.

Hi

I was compared both keys, and seems that PA600 speakers sound better.
Seems that it had a vented box enclosure (if it is a right term?), there are more low frequencies.

Hi lotficrew!

I have tried PCM sounds with bonus added pack. They works well.
But 3 PCM sounds together?

Can anyone give me a hint
- How to make my own PCM sounds or Drum samples.

PA600 can only read PCM samples when it is used on (User) sound.
I can not make them by myself.
With AWave - it seems not impossible.

On PA600, you can not make your own samples or multisamples.

Below is my reply in another thread.

"PA600 can't import Wav or Aif file, and can't directly import multisamples either, can't create user multisamples by itself.

When PA600 imports programms, and those programms have accompanying multisamples/samples, it will load those multisamples/samples into user sample memory together with the programms. But you can not load those multisamples/samples directly."

Hi! lotficrew!
You can use 3 (even 4 and much more) samples (sounds) at the same time on Your keyboard (Up to 16). Any limit is with the generators witch do the sound.
It depends of your configuration.

Maybe it is helpful.

Hi,
PA600 can load only eight first performance bank from any SET and each bank must be loaded in the same number of original bank.
You can't load ex:bank10 from any SET. You can load only a single performance. KORG must find a solution (new firmware).
THANK YOU

I have made with PA600 one sound set (from a PA3X set from internet) just to try it.
They are pure sample sounds. No filters, no effects are added.

For interest i tried open it with Wave Xtractor.
For .kmp it shows me: "This is not a valid KMP file",
but .pcm it can load.

You can download it here:
