Set List Question
Hi guys, I have a Set List question.
When I'm constructing my Combis for the 60 or so songs my band plays, would it be best to:
1) Use a separate Set List (of the 128 available) for each song?
or
2) If a song will use only, say 6 slots, stay on the current Set List and use the remaining slots on the page (9-16) for the next song? I'm basically asking that if (2) songs will fit in the 16 slots, will that be a more effecient use of Set List?

I also would select set lists.
In my band we play about 30 songs, most have one slot, several have two slots. I also use a set list slots for 'End of set x' so I have about 40 filled slots in one set list.
I am thinking of copying these slots and have also a separate set list with slots sorted alphabetically.

I put all of my songs that I'm playing that night in a single set list. That way I can use my pedal to step through all of my combis without having to change set lists. If we change song order, I just rearrange the order in a different set list.
I like Michel's idea of having a set list with everything sorted alphabetically. I may have to set that up. That would make it easy to call something up on the fly, if needed.

I did what Michel suggested.michelkeijzers wrote:I also would select set lists.

My first setlist are all of the songs in alphabetical order.
The subsequent setlists are titled according to Venue and Gig Date, so its easy to go back and look at the setlist of the last time you played that venue; (you dont want to play the same set in the same order all the time at the same location and become predictable).
Also, the first patch of each setlist page is labeled "Set 1", "Set 2","Set 3" etc.
The last patch in a set is labeled "Last song"
I have patches "Set 1", "Set 2", "Set 3" pointing to Combi Patch User Bank F-127, which I programmed with all 16 voices muted, so that if someone decides to walk up to my kronos and touch the keys, no sound is produced. (Yes it happens).
Lastly, I use ONKSOR to edit the setlist before each gig. I love the drag and drop feature. It is an excellent program,... as is Michel Keijzers program.

Actually, somewhere in the future I want to make a new feature in PCG Tools to automatically sort a set list (or program bank/combi bank). I even want to sort it based on special characters. I.e. I'm naming my set list slots (actually combis) e.g. NothingElseM...-Metallica where '-' is the split character for the group/song name. I want it to be possible to sort either on the group name or song name (by specifier the 'split character' while sorting.KevinH wrote: I like Michel's idea of having a set list with everything sorted alphabetically. nice. I can see how that feature will be useful.michelkeijzers wrote:Actually, somewhere in the future I want to make a new feature in PCG Tools to automatically sort a set list (or program bank/combi bank). True, but it can only sort set lists. However, currently it is the only app which can do that and besides, it has a WYSIWIG editor description window.uhura wrote:You can sort alphabetical with ONKSOR

I use a Set List for an entire evenings worth of sets. I Separate each set with a slot named named for that set. This way I can access any slot fairly quickly if somebody calls a song that is out of the usual order. I also create a separate Set List that I sort alphabetically- just in case! I also use the alpha to generate Set Lists form scratch.

I play in 3 bands so I kinda have different set list systems. In my dui where I don't use too many sounds I just have each slot with whatever sound I might need available. Piano, rhodes, then organ for example. In my country band I have each sound labelled with the title of that particular song and if it uses different sounds than I have them in order so I can advance each sound with my footswitch. With my organ patches, I use my damper pedal to change Leslie speeds. In my third band, because our songs often have a lot of sound changes, I have each particular set-list labelled 1, 2, 3. I have the songs in order and simply step through each change as is necessary.
As for not letting other people get any sound out of my Kronos if they touch it, I just back off the volume pedal.

I have done 2 more things you might like to consider. I use a lot of specialized Combis, so I name the Combi with the song's title. Makes it easier to remember what's going on in a Combi. Then when I assign the Combi to the Setl List Slot, the Slot already is already named. I can always edit if I need to. In the Comments, the first characters of text is the key of the song. If a Combi is really complex, I add text that helps me remember what Programs are mapped to what section of the keyboard splits. So if there is an organ in the lowest octave, it is first, then a piano, then a trumpet, then strings, etc. kind of a road map of the Combi. I guess I could put the note numbers for the splits, but I know the song well enough to know roughly how much of the split it occupies. The Set List is a powerful feature & really makes life easy for us multi-keyboardists. And remember- save it! Especially to the SSD!
