I have a real MS20 & SQ10 Sequencer - so a question?

Post by Cobalt19 »

I have been using a real Korg MS20 synth since 1980 and a real Korg SQ10 sequencer since 1995 and I can tell you the sequencer implementation on this iMS20 App is ridiculously overly complicated and unrealistic. If you are new to analogue style sequencing then don't try to teach yourself using this App as you will be confused and most probably very frustrated. The sequencer on this App is not a true representation of the functionality of the real SQ10 - the App adds too many layers of variables and consequently obscures the strength of the SQ10 and similar real-world analogue sequencers. They just don't have all those different parameters to tweak.

I see many complaints on this forum about the lack of decent Manual for the App. I add my voice to that and bearing mind my real world experience I too find navigating the iMS20 impenetrable. Bad job Korg. You need to explain everything in the manual.

So to my question: on the real world SQ10 sequencer, you can drive the MS20 Trig In from the SQ10 'Clock' knob. In other words, this is how you set the clock rate of the real sequencer. There is no such clock on this App's sequencer, so just where is the Master Clock coming from within the App???Please don't tell me it originates from the onboard and highly daft 'drum-machine' (which again is not a real part of the Korg MS20 or SQ10)!
