I've had my 88 for a couple of weeks, now. I was skeptical of the keybed, because I basically was looking for an RD-700 keybed, and the first time I laid hands on my 88, the keys felt dead. It seems like the stroke or travel is just a tiny bit short, compared to an acoustic piano. Took me about 10 minutes to adjust and I love it now. There is an awful lot I don't know about my Krome, yet - but so far I am very pleased.

Hi!, i have the 73 key version, and well, i love it!! , i had in the past a triton classic, a trinity and of course they had better keybeds, but, the krome's isn't bad at all, i can compare it with the keybed of a n364 and the key bed on the krome is much better, of course it's way better than the m50 and the korg tr an triton le..gnbutt wrote:i am looking at ordering a 73 key KROME in January. If anyone has comments on the keybed or any performance issues, it would be appreciated. Merry Christmas to all and Happy New Year ! GNB

Hi I've had a Krome 88 for about 3 months now and have no complaints about the keybed. I think the sounds are real good I really enjoy the pianos acoustic and electric, the sequencer is good and the layering is also. I don't think you can get a better full keyboard for the price as you can tell by my other keyboards I like good keyboards.

Krome 88 Action
I got to spend a couple of hour on the New Krome 88 at Ken Stanton's Music in Stone Mountain, GA today. WOW. The action is great..... The nuances were amazing. It will NEVER be a Steinway. If you want a $100k piano, buy one. This was made for working players. The piano sample was over the top. Every aspect was a sonic eargasm. The ppp on the high end to the fff o on the bottom was very pleasing and the resonance was super. You wonder why you spend $4000 on a Kurzweil K2600x and be satisfied with a 64 meg Yamaha sample for so long then get a 3 gig streaming Bosendorfer for $1600 and it just blows it away. The organs left a LOT to be desired but I am not buying an organ. I want THE piano. Well, I found mine...... The strings were very good and the electric pianos were killer. The synths were very good. The drum assign button makes it easy to program grooves on the fly. The drums are very usable. This thing will do 16 zones... 16 ZONES. 5 insert effect, 5..... Awesome ride for the bucks..... If you don't use it in stereo, you are missing the boat. I give it FIVE Stars........

Right on Bro, you wont be disappointed with this machine I like the action too!... I dont know what all the fuss was about, maybe the complainers are use to old casios or apt size pianos lol... If you want a good B3 organ module simulator (with leslie simulator built in) try the Roland VK8M if you ever get a chance to try one out... the only other B3 simulator I liked was the Nord Electro Rack.I took them both home for a A/B comparison. Roland was better,it had drawbars and it was designed specifically for B3 unlike the Nord rack. Its better than carrying a 300 lb Hammond around the VK is only 8lbs.

Korg Chrome Action
I use a Hammond XM1 / XM1c with a Boss RT20 for my Hammond sounds... I
have been using that with a Roland A70ex for the last 10 years or so... Love it......

Been there and done that with just about all of them. I like just having the drawbars there, too. I liked the Roland a lot. I have just always liked the Hammond. I have been a B3 guy forever. I was carrying a Hammond XK3 and a Motion Sound Top, and blew a fuse in it. I opened it up and the circuit board was tiny. I figured I'd scale down. I usually use it with my Roland A70EX with a Korg X5dr. I have been using a Boss RT-20 for since they came out. I am looking at The Ventilator now. Put it in the rack and run a breakout cable to a swith near the drawbars. I use a Pearl DR80 drum ract with a couple of Ts. I have a little table on a stick for the drawbars and RT20 mounted on the rack.

Never tried the ventilator but Im satisfied with the Roland VK8M for everything the only other one I was interested in at that time was the Nord Electro Rack
but at the time they had LEDs fo drawbars, no reverb and no editing of the leslie or different B3 series organs over the years, which the VK did.But the B3 simulator was still awesome. The nice thing when you have different brand of boards/racks you get a lot of choice on B3 sounds... Yamaha has some decent sounds,Korgs good,Roland love it, Kurzweil pretty good too.Im sure Hammond,s probably one of the better ones it's HAMMOND!
Anyways sorry for getting off topic this is a KORG forum!!!
KROME 88!!! Awesome machine so far!

Keybed quality
I do agree with some remarks over the keybed quality. Some keys make more noise than others, the action might not be as good as the latest Fatars or Kronos' keyboard...
But overall for a pianist, it's more than acceptable if you like a real piano action. Even if my background is on quarter tail real piano, I really like it.
If you want a soft synth feeling, take the 76!

Re: Keybed quality
Im a pianist too I agree completely it is more acceptable.I had a Korg SP200 digital piano for years, it was similar to a RH3 keybed but I actually prefer this over the SP200.The best thing is.... it weighs less than my SP200 by almost half the weight. My Kurzweil PC-3 76 semi-weigthed key weighs more than the Krome. When you get to be 56 you prefer lighter carrying keyboards.rjeunet wrote:I do agree with some remarks over the keybed quality. might I add of the keyboards I have I prefer the piano on the krome 88. The kronos sounds great also but there's just something about the krome sound that feels right to me could just be the weighted keys but I'm not sure

Hi countrycreek, I was thinking of "replicating" your set up there with the krome 88 (I've already got the kronos 61). Would you recommend it for a piano player? I play classical music and prog rock/jazz. I had my doubts about the keybed, but reading this post makes me wonder if the krome can deliver after all when it comes to its keybed...countrycreek wrote:might I add of the keyboards I have I prefer the piano on the krome 88.
