D16XD Shuttle Wheel Problems

The shuttle wheel on my D16XD is not functioning properly, sometimes going off in the opposite data direction from its rotation. This makes it exceedingly hard to edit and assign tracks, effects, everything. Any ideas?

I'm really not sure but have you tried spraying a little electronic contact cleaner inside the wheel hub? Might just be dirty contacts...

I see no way to safely remove the shuttle wheel knob, and whatever contacts are involve are sealed inside the unit.
