Problem with my pa3x
My Pa3x is around 3 and a half months old and im having a strange problem that keeps happening quite often but not regularly.
i'm currently on Os 1.5
The problem is when i switch on my keyboard and after its done booting when i push the main volume slider up i get a big pop on my speakers, like the one that you get when you unplug a cable when the channel is on, and there is absolutely no audio. The only way the audio comes on is by putting the keyboard on standby and then switching it back on. This has happened to me now at least 5 times now since i bought it in September 2012.
Lately a similar thing happened to me again but this time it was with my mp3 s. The sound from my keyboard would come but if i tried to play the mp3 s, it would show in the player that the file is playing, but no audio from it and yes my mp3 volume fader was up and i did bring it up and down twice to reset it and see if the problem was wit the fader not being reset. The balance fader was also in the middle position. I had to put the keyboard on standby and then switch it on for the audio to come. This happened to me when i was in the middle of a fast set and people were on the floor and it was really annoying for everyone to wait for more than a minute for the keyboard to come on and start with the music again.
Another issue i have is with the battery. When it is fully charged it shows the backup time to be 137 hours but it doesn't even last six hours. So if i turn the keyboard on after six hours it takes its normal 3 minutes to start up which is really frustrating.
I don't know if i'm the only one with these problems. And i don't know what to do cause it doesn't happen every time, but quite often.
Please suggest and advice what i need to do.
One more thing, i have my maxx audio volume set to 4.The EQ and all the other settings are all off. Could it be the maxx audio that is giving me the audio problems????
Please help.

Hi Velkeys
Intermittent problems are the worst !!!
Firstly, re battery - have you checked to see if your keyboard is one listed as requiring battery replacement?
See http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=71778
I would certainly get the battery replaced (your keyboard should be under warranty)
Re audio "pop".
Try a process of elimination:-
1. Connect different speakers (you could also try headphones) and see if the "pop" can still be heard.
2. Yes MP3s will be silent unless you pull the MP3 slider right down, then up (but I see you have already tried that). Some MP3 issues were fixed in OS updates but not sure if it was 1.5 or 1.6
3. I would certainly get OS 1.6 installed - Korg may not have listed all of the bug fixes
4. My MAXX Audio is on when I boot up but I don't get any problems.
If the "pop" happens often enough, try to "record it" - video clip if you can - then take it to your Korg service and get it fixed.
Good luck - let us know how you go....
Pete

Hi
No output sound after booting, has happened twice on my PA3X, had to reboot to get the sound back. I can't figure out why.
Last night I played some mp3 files, it worked fine for long time, then all of a sudden, there was no sound from player 1. It was loading and playing but no sound. Player 2 was working fine. Had to reboot, and it was OK again.

Hi Antony,
Thanks - it's good to be back.
Also thanks for your link
I am now thinking I will create something like a "controlled" sticky with tips and tricks for PA3X just like yours.
Thanks

I have experienced this issue
I have had the exact same issue twice - I have had the keyboard since September 2012. The volume slider was the first thing I touched after booting and there was a pop and no audio. Went to standby and rebooted and worked fine both times.

Thanks Pete and Antony. Really good and comforting to see such quick response from you guys. Thanks once again.
Regarding the battery my keyboard came with the green sticker on it which said battery OK/ fixed.
So i really don't know why the battery doesn't last for more than six hours and i see that no one else has reported this problem. So am i the only one with this problem? Or is it normal for the battery to last only for around six hours??? Please guide.
Thanks
Iggy

Hi Iggy
No, the battery should definitely last a lot longer - I would recommend that you get it replaced.

Rechargeable batteries are disposable spares , they have a specific number of usage circles , and for surely
yours need replacement , no big deal this should be expected soon or later for anybody of us ! but try a "wipe"
before you proceed to replacement and also remark the pack if it's deformed or cells have been exhausted.
As concerned to maxx Audio , is truly useful for two things , one is the multi-range parametric equalizer and the
second is the master volume level adjustment that can equalize the missing 7db of sound level that Pa3X ought to
have (0 db) ... So the right position of level slider is approximately + 6 to 7 decibels.

An important notice must be added about batteries lifetime , that I forgot to mention !
Rechargeable batteries life time is measured in usage circles , that means when you unplug power supply ,
batteries are discharged and a circle has been subtracted from their life time !
Despite Lithium batteries that can tolerate a partial discharge without loss , Nickel H batteries charge
semi-discharge operation as a life time circle !
Therefore it's wiser to let Pa3X always plugged in electricity network (at least at home or studio) , in order
batteries to work in st-by mode gaining at least double life time compared to unplugging Pa3X after every usage !!!
