Charity name suggestions

Post by mikemolloyuk »

Hi All

I'm toying with an idea of starting a UK based charity that will provide musical instruments for musicians who might not be able to afford stuff for themselves.

I'm working on the fine detail but I need a good name.

Something like gear 4 musicians came to mind then I realised there is a retailer called gear 4 music..!

So hopefully you can see the lines i'm going down.

Basically any musician can apply for a product they would find useful. The charity would then buy the product on their behalf. After a period of time the product would then be given to the applicant in some cases but not all, hopefully avoiding people getting stuff and putting it straight on ebay.!

With the contacts I have in the industry i'm sure I could purchase gear at a near trade price so to help the industry sell their product but be able to get the stuff for much less than retail.

Therefore helping more non professional musicians create music.

So I need name suggestions guys.

Thanks

Sounds like a fantastic idea. Wow..!!!!

I'll give this some proper thought, but what popped into my mind straight away was...

Sound Hearts.
Sound Citizens.
Citizen Sounds.
Musical Dreams.
Creative Citizens
Creative Notes.
Creative Waves.

Regards
Sharp.

I'm liking those Sharp. !

There's loads to consider on the registered charity side of things. Tons of work.

What I used to find in the days of working in music shops is people would often come in and ask if there was anywhere you could borrow gear. Makes sense to lend stuff. Have it insured as a charity and then sell it on again once it has had some decent life out there.

Then if it gets trashed which some of it will, I can still get the money back.

Just need some donations .!!

Any ideas for that guys?

Hi All

Im going with 'Your Music Dreams'

As the new charity will try to focus on making peoples dreams of making music come true.

Please inbox me for a way to donate.

I need to get to £5k to become registered to get more clout when fund raising.

I think it's a wonderful idea. I don't have a name suggestion but if you haven't heard about it yet, here is an interesting orchestra, the "Landfill Harmonic":
