Looks like nothing new for Kronos at Namm
If anybody had faint hopes for things like a sequencer update, an additional synth engine like the Monoi-Poly, an updated CX3, a great new sound library, a 64 bit version for the editor, Asio support for the Kronos soundcard, or anything - just forget it, as far as I can see.

It seems the Kronos has not received any further attention from Korg at Namm 2013. Slightly disappointed here, because I had hoped for any kind of next step, at least an announcement, but it looks as if they had anything else in mind but the Kronos.

Well, since Kronos will be around for awhile I would think more goodies will be coming. Sometimes the timing of things is bad. Maybe something is in the works, but not far enough into development to make any announcements. Hopefully we will see something down the road.

I'm not worrying, just slightly disappointed.
The Kronos is great as it is, but a little further development would surely suit it and it's further selling well.
The biggest lamer show though seems to be Yamahas "125 Years of Passion & Performance". The offer ZERO remarkable keyboard product at that occasion, and the rumors I heard from several sides about a new workstation óbviously were all wrong. Instead they offer a ridiculous firmware upgrade to 1.4 for the Motif XF. Are they still working seriously in that business?

The Kronos is still far ahead , given nothing has been announced by Yamaha or Roland.jimknopf wrote:I'm not worrying, just slightly disappointed.

The world has changed, Korg is not locked into NAMM dated announcements either.
I am greatly enjoying my Kronos and there is no lack of challenge or enthusiasm from my experience

One of the biggest thing for Kronos was Streaming from Disk and still...
...that was not announced at NAMM...you never know.

If I had a big anniversary, be it 50 or 125 years, you can bet I would not let the big Namm publicity occasion slip like that.
The new KingKorg (absolutely idiotic name from my view) may be a nice thing, but I would rather be able to have the casual option to use just a Kronos without additional gear (like my Moogs and Access TI). But for that purpose I miss a warm sounding, overdrive-capable lead and bass synth, like a well done Mono-Poly model in the Kronos, together with much better analog sounding overdrive effects than those the Kronos offers so far.
Am I supposed to buy an extra synth like the KingKorg instead? And one which offers only 300 sounds in total (100 of which seem user programs?), covering all mono and poly styles with them? Even my mono Little Phatty offers much more variety, not speaking of the many thousands of available and programmable sound in my Access TI.
So no, I am not at all enthusiastic about this anniversary year Namm (for two companies). Still, it is no big deal at all, and I just return from music company news to my own gear and music making.
With a great Kronos upgrade I would have even been in test mode for the KingKorg (my hands refuse to write this name), but not like that and with 300 presets limitation (that's a real Rolandian attitude).
Obviously nobody wants my keyboard gear money at all.
That opens up some completely other possibilities.

Haven't checked it yet, because I didn't like the sound of Dave Smith's recent synths too much (Mopho, Prophet 08 etc.). Anything new concerning the sound of this thing?
