sound demos for the king korg are up on its new page at korg.com

Some of the synth sounds are kinda cheesy, but in a lush kinda 80's way. I might just buy one for its FM board kinda sounds.

Looks like a pretty nice sequencer for the iPad by Yamaha.

if this motif app allowed real time recording or even importing of midi files, that would be awesome... I don't wanna build songs made COMPLETELY from someone else's phrases... then my stuff would end up sounding the exact same as another guy... i mean maybe a few loops, but I should be able to enter my own stuff in there and use it. right?

These are what most companies would consider to be firmware updates, not a new product. Not wanting to use Novation as an example again (I'm doing it far too often), but their last Nova OS update added 4 more notes of polyphony, new oscillator types and new filter modes amongst other things. That's way beyond the enhancements for the above products.
Korg: M3M, EMX2, EMX1 (x2), ESX1, ER1, EA1, R3, MicroKorg, MicroSampler, Micro X, KP2, KP3, KPMini 1&2, KO1&2, KP Pro
Roland: SP808, MC505, Handsonic 10, Fantom X6, RC505, CG8
Emu: Command Station MP7 (x3!), Proteus 2000, Planet Earth, Virtuoso, Planet Phatt, XBoard49
Novation: UltraNova, Nova
Yamaha: RM1X, CS2X, DX11, DX Reface, YC Reface
Other: Zoom R24, Quasimidi 309, Beat Thang, Akai MPC1000 and a couple of Omnichords

agree...my issue is that the things they updated were things no one was asking for...I have never heard anyone say they wanted more sounds...sure it's nice, but I have heard asks for EVERY other thing, sampling time, gate arps, new functions, etc etc etc....and we got none of those...plus the new sounds all just got ripped off of other products...

Does this mean that unlike Kronos/X and M3 eXpanded the kpro and kp3 cannot be upgraded to the + version?

It most certainly allows you to record your own phrases.
There's a Piano Roll Editor, and Virtual On screen Keyboard for doing exactly that. It also exports to Midi Files. Not sure if you can record from a Midi Keyboard though.

One would imagine not. I'd be the first to congratulate them if they did provide that facility. You'd think if they were going to the trouble of releasing a new product, they'd have redesigned it a bit and moved the gate time switch from the back of the unit.

Comedy gold.
NAMM wouldn't be NAMM for Korg without yet another tuner! :P

How complex of a rhythm have you ever gotten from a piano roll editor? Lol....I'm talking about keyboard parts with two handed chords....not drum and bass patterns....

I just noticed i-MX1 is listed as an optional extra.
Being that i-MX1 is an official Yamaha Midi Interface for the iPad, I think it's safe to assume you can connect a midi keyboard to the iPad for this app?

I'd wait until I see it in black and white but it's looking pretty prommsing. For the price, who could complain either.
