One thing to check is that the MIC/LINE switch on the back is set to LINE. Also try adjusting the gain with the LEVEL knob.
Another thing is what cable are you using to connect the phone to the M3? You can use a stereo 3.5mm to 1/4 inch TS cable that sums left and right to mono or a 3.5mm to dual 1/4 inch TS Y cable for stereo. Using a mono to mono cable won't work.
And finally, the phone output just might be to low for the M3 and in that case you'll need a preamp.

im using a stereo 3.5mm to 1/4 inch TS cable and the m3 is set to Line and even on the level on max on the back i only hear a quiet and desorted sound.
When i push sampling i get the message "adc overload"
now i even tried connecting my pa2x from output to the m3s audio input, m3 set to line and the volum on max, even then i only here the pa2 very quit
update nr2.
Now i got sound under sampling mode to work when i set the input to analog L/R.... Yay!
Still no sound under Combi/Sound. I want to be able to play with a combi wile listening to my mp3

Thank you Bald Eagle.
Now it works but not really what i was hoping fore.
every time i change a combi i need to assign the sampling input every time.
i was hoping it to be as the input on my pa2x pro where the input always is "open"
the m3 is already connected to my pa2.
i think i will have to get a small mixer where i can connect my mp3 and my m3 and then connect the mixer to my input on the m3.
i think thats the only way to be able to hear averything at once if you know what i mean
if there is any other possibility, please let me know

You can make it a global setting. Go to Global Mode - P0:Basic Setup - Audio tab. Change Bus Select to L/R and it will apply to all combi's as long as the Use Global Setting check box for the combi is selected. I believe that's the default for all combis.
In the long run a mixer or audio interface is the way to go depending on what your needs are. But you shouldn't need to route the mixer back into the M3. Just monitor the mix on the mixers main outs or headphones.

@Bald Eagle. THANK YOU!!!!
you saved me some cash
oh i ment connect the m3 and mp3 to a mixer then the mixer to the audio input on the pa2x. but no need for that
this setup seems to work fine after making it a global setting so no need for a mixer.
no i have my mp3 connected to the m3 audio input. the m3 is connected to the pa2x audio input and i listed to everything at once on my headphones that is connected to my pa2x headphone jack
