EMX Trance 2012
My first YouTube video was an original trance tune that I composed entirely on a Korg Electribe MX five years ago. I thought it would be cool to make a new song for the five year anniversary. So here it is...

Hey everyone! (first post don't yell at me for being a noob on the forum: we aren't 11 anymore)
Anyways, I make music with a lot of disperate equipment that I keep hoarding (a list would be exhaustive) but for the project I'm focusing on right now, Argiflex, I'm only using an Electribe EA-1 and an Electribe ES-1 MkII. The EA-1 has synth leads and basses (and atmospheric arpeggios in some of my newer songs) and the ES-1 MkII is used strictly as a drum machine that I sampled my Yamaha RX7 into. My music is more of an instrumental/progressive/psychadelic/synthpop sound, if anyone cares for genres. Anyways, here's a video of myself performing at a 'battle of the bands' type event at my school. I hope you enjoy it!

And here's my website with links to everything, if you're interested:

Here's some links and info on my good mate Dave aka Drone 375.
He plays on 2 EMX's and sometimes uses a microsampler for chopped vocal samples. He also has a Roland MC909 that I'm pushing for him to start using more.
He uses his EMX's just as you would 2 "decks" mixing between them with a behringer VMX 300 and playing live. He plays individual patterns on each and also combining patterns from both to build up a seamless flowing live set. All live pattern work, no song mode.
his soundcloud:

facebook page:

artist bio:
http://showme.co.za/durban/interactive/ ... -drone375/
unfortunately no videos that I know of yet but him and I need to get off our lazy arses and start recording videos of our jam sessions.
there's a track on his soundcloud that I worked on with him (decoy girl) and there's a clip from a jam session I recorded with him on my soundcloud page.
we jam together whenever we can both find the time to, learning from eachother and pushing eachother forward. We're hoping to educate more people about live hardware production and push the scene forward locally (tired of questions like "is that an MP3 player?" or "what kind of DJ controller is that?"). When I've got enough material together and I feel I'm ready then we'll start playing some gigs together.

Hi, my name is Jerome, I go under Archibald Singleton, and I'm part of a electronic music duo called The Gulf Stream. I've owned a EMX for almost 10 years now and it's my main sequencer for most of my compositions. Our last EP was mainly composed/sequenced first on EMX.

I still use it on regular basis for live performances.
The "live" parts are done with ableton and EMX.

Anyone See This?

Three models, two generations, not much else.
Interesting though it highlights two shortcomings of the 'tribes:
Transitions have to be programmed in which means you have to know how you're going to leave your last pattern so it fits in with the next.
Knob snap keeps you in the minors lest they jump. I usually keep a patch blank so that I can switch to it, guess the relative position of the knob, and switch to the patch I want to adjust.
