microSampler Dec2010 price drop = discontinued?

Post by stevestrange »

don't know if this is just a Toronto thing, but microSamplers have been dropped to $270 Canadian (!!) at 2 of the local music stores. so i think it's pretty logical to assume that it's on the way out, so maybe no OS upgrades forthcoming

anyway, i got mine for $270 and i had no big expectations, so i'm enjoying mine... i just hope i can figure out how to use it as a master Midi clock (see my previous thread)

wow!!!! that is amazing! Finally I might actually get one at that price. Let's see what are the prices in the US...$199 I hope

*Now after checking the prices*

Well on line they are still at the hi price of $499 American.

Can you post the actual ad which shows the price drop?

not sure why you would expect it to be $199. isn't $270 already low enough for you? anyway, it's avail at that price at Moog Audio and Long & McQuade - you can look them up

Someone mentioned getting one at that price on the board before, but he said the reason was because Canadian retailers overstocked the mS expecting it to be a big seller and it wasn't. So I don't think it's any indication that Korg is discontinuing the mS or won't continue to support it. I paid like $480 at Guitar Center and got a $100 rebate. I'm pretty happy with the machine for that price.

Listed as discontinued on a few suppliers sites now.

Sad as a unique product which despite its failings had/has many good qualities.

Among them, excellent durability, hardly any reports of faults. Mine still as good as new.

No sign of a replacement which is a shame too.

most people never figured out the best way to use it, and the hacker community never opened 'er up to see what easy-to-make mods are available. one guy did figure out how to connect a foot pedal jack, but that's the only mod i know of.

love this piece. it's limitations make me love it more (except the absence of an attack portion for the amp envelope. that kinda pisses me off).
