Pepperpotty and friends

Hi Pepperpotty and fellow mods.

I hope you don't mind me asking.

How many hours a week do you spend moderating the forum? Do you work as well?

Your dedication to the cause is very impressive, you don't miss a trick.

Cheers

Hi,

It's hard to measure really. I'm currently on long term sick so I spend a fair amount of time on here and I check the forum continuously, reading as many new posts as possible. I suppose I could easily spend an hour a day on here if you total it all up. That's assuming that there is nothing for me to do. If we get a lot of spam or trouble makers then that takes time to deal with.

lol... an hour ?
My dear, your far more dedicated than that.

When there's trouble, you and I have often spent many hours in a single day PM'ing each other to discuss issues, and to come up with a plan to best resolve them.

Most people have no clue what effort all the moderators put in here as most of what we all do goes on in the background. Your all such a great team.

Thanks boss ;)

There are definitely some problems which have taken up a huge chunk of our time.

I'm still pretty new here, but as a moderator on another forum, I too know what it takes.

You guys do a great job of keeping this forum a great place to visit and learn!
Kudos to you all!

I think we owe all of the moderators and Sharp in particular a lot of gratitude for doing the moderation work.

Although I don't have any moderator experience, I can imagine it takes a lot of work. And the worse is that most work is done behind the scenes, where people don't even notice it... Actually that's a good thing for the users. I also have subscribed to sites where we got each month several mails about problems within the site that causes all kind of workaround to be done by users... I have been active for about 5 years here, the last years more frequently and I can say I never found any real problem within the site. Even the conversion to another server was almost flawlessly, and not to forget the new layout. All with the least offtime as possible.

Also I have had mails/discussions/questions with Sharp and a few time with Pepperpotty and I mostly get an answer within a day (and often even almost instantly).

I would not have this active here (having more than 6000 posts) if I would think it would only be a temporary project. It has started 10 years ago and is still growing daily.

Btw, I'm not posting this to try to be(come) a moderator myself. I don't have the time for it (and want to spend time to where I'm better at, writing PCG Tools for example).

Conclusion: Thanks a lot for making this forum and even more important: keeping it great.
