nanoKONTROL 2 & Cubase 5 not getting along...

nanoKontrol 2 is not doing anything with cubase, buttons won't do anything at all. Only the SET button will jump back on the timeline a little and thats about it.

I did use the Mackie Control template.
I tried everything the manual says and also read most forums.

I can see midi signal being sent from the device into Cubase but it does not controll cubase.

Help please?
