Just got my Krome 88 back from Keyboard Repair

Post by mf_blues »

A couple of keys were making a loud rattling when play trills etc, I don't like shipping it back and forth as I've had problems with damaged goods in the past so I'm nervously waiting now for it's return.

I've gotta wait over a week now before I get it back, fortunately I'm going on holiday next week so at least I'll be distracted for a while.

Just hope it comes back in one piece.

Has anyone else had any key noise problems?

Cheers

Hi

I've just also returned my Krome 88 for repair exactly for the same problem of key noise... I'm now a bit nervous to see others complaintes about this...

You are lucky for waiting only a week, the shop told me 3 weeks or a month...

In my case yes, strange mechanical noise when combining sol # and la # of the 4th octave. Not acceptable for a musician

I havent had this problem with the Krome 88 yet(hopefully not!) but have this problem with my Kurzweil PC3 and found other forum members with the same problem with the PC3.Im just living with it... its 2 notes only,if it gets out of hand Ill take it to Kurzweil to get fixed. It cant be heard on stage... it's just more annoying than anything else , sometimes it changes with the humidity and dryness through out the year.Im wondering if theres a dry lubricant which could tackle the problem but Im not opening the Kurzweil to try it ....too nervous.

Mine is like a metallic knocking sound as though something is physically loose inside the key, a second key started to exhibit the symptoms, I contacted Korg today and they said I should get mine back Monday / Tuesday next week, fingers crossed.

I had a go at Korg cus they wanted me to send it back via the music store, that meant it would have to travel up and down the country 4 times which just adds extra risks of other damage, they agreed in the end to arrange a direct pickup from me which is why the turn around is so quick.

Hopefully they have fixed the issue but I always worry that one fixed is another waiting to show up.

Oh well, nothing's perfect after all so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Cheers

Ive probably mentioned this before...but within the last of 4 purchases
The Yamaha MM6/Kurzweil PC3/Krome 88/M-Audio BX8A monitors,Ive had problems whereby 3 incidents I had to take them back either for repair or exchange.
When I opened the PC3 brand new straight out of the box it wouldnt
turn on had to be taken in (the fuse was blown and the voltage adjusted to
UK standard.)and now 2 sticky keys. The MM6 brand new out of the box (the modulation wheel was broken)...Exchanged, later I sold it got the Motif XS rack instead. The Krome no repairs as of yet but distortion problems... fixed after factory reset.
The M-Audio monitors brand new out of the box one didnt work at all.

Kinda makes you nervous all this stuff coming out of China.Fortunatly the Motif XS rack was made in Japan no problems thus far.I recently purchased the Roland Integra7 made in Japan so far so good.Roland VK8M made in Japan again no problems had that for about 2 years now.

Got my Krome 88 back yesterday, the report said they had stripped out the keyboard rack and replaced 2 hammers, they check everything out, cleaned it re-taped the keys for transit and sent it back all in just over one week.

Tested it last night and everything seems OK, all the keys sound quiet with no rattles etc.

Well pleased. :D

No they just said they replaced 2 hammers, however it did sound like something had worked loose and was knocking against the key.

Trouble is now I'm listening for every little creek and click, got to focus on the playing instead.

cheers :D
