Help programming effects

Post by billc »

Im feeling more and more like an idiot ....(you didnt have to agree lol)

I seem to have an issue programming additional effects to sounds.

I want to say take the standard bx3 program and add say a flange or wah on a switch. Say SW2 which I also have a foot sitch hooked to control.

How can I add an effect to on and off by sw2? Is therea resource that will help me understand?

For some reason I am not getting it.

thanks

1. Add your effect to the IFX chain.
2. Set its wet/dry balance to completely dry
3. Next to that setting, there's something called "AMS source" - set that to SW2 and the intensity to 100.

So essentially, your effect is always on and you're switching it from dry to wet.

If you don't know how to do one of these steps you have to be a little more specific on where it is going wrong for you.
And don't feel dumb, we've all been there and it's pretty tricky stuff when you're first figuring things out.

Ok - Ill start small which is prob a good idea.

I took an existing organ sound - the rotary speed toggle was on Y+
I changed that to SW2 and when I do - pressing sw2 then does nothing.

Where am I off in this?

Most likely SW2 isn't actually controlling the internal SW2 parameter. Meaning, on that program's "controllers" page, it's possible to change SW2 to another function entirely, such as "transpose up by 1 octave". Then within that program, it stops functioning as SW2 but instead becomes an octave transpose switch.

Go to the "controllers" page in that program and make sure SW2 is actually sending SW2.

ok - We may be getting somewhere.

So if I understand correctly there are global controller settings, but than you may also change controller settings at a program level???

That would make sense for the issue. Ill check when I get home.
Just correct me if I m wrong

Yup. Though the global controller settings are only the pedals and aftertouch and such, I think. Specifically the switches and the RT knobs have to be set at the program level.
