MicroArranger Frustrations

Post by Mikroarranger »

I love the sounds and basic features of the MicroArranger, but I have yet to find any good sources on how to do the following (the manual is of very little help - many things about it are incomplete):

1. How do I get the backup info from the CD onto the SD? Do I just copy one to the other on my computer? Never says how to do that.

2. How do I change a style in a different location - I think I am doing it right, but it never works. I am trying to change some of the sounds associated with the styles. I have resorted to doing it as a single touch setting and that seems to work.

3. When I am in a song I created and I want to create a new song, how do I do that? Right now I just turn the thing off and start over.

4. Is there a good video in English that shows how to work the PA50 or 50 SD? The ones related to the touch screen versions are of no help and the PA50 manual is basically the same as the Micro version - both hard to follow and missing information.

I like this, but, wow, it is frustrating!

I have uploaded a few files which may or may not be to your advantage in working with the Korg Micro Arranger. It should be noted though that in no way other than being a home musician and fanatic programmer am I associated with Korg in any professional or financial capacity.

I notice folks asking for detailed videos etc. but they will be a long time coming.
I think it is imperative you first get a handle on things by reading all manuals ,including the one that I am posting here called SAMPLING PA800. Yes it is for the PA800 but the SOUND part of it should be illuminating for those using other Korg arrangers including the Micro.
Secondly one had best sit down with someone already familiar with arranger keyboards and with Korg arrangers in particular.
I know Glenn ordered my 2012 resources and got lots of extras as well. On top of that I spent hours behind the computer in mailing him answers to his plethoria of questions. However saying you do not know what " a performance " is, shows you have not been reading the manuals the way you should. ( no offence Glenn).
Here are the links to some things you may want to download and have a look at. I also include my homepage for anyone in search of Korg PA software for whichever model that you have, and my Youtube homepage which includes a number of songs done with the PA50sd, which is identical to the Micro Arranger.

best of luck,
John

Have you tried using the PA50 manual? http://www.korg.com/pa50sd

The Micro has LOT in common....to edit factory styles, including moving to new locations...check out page 141 of the PA50 manual. This page also references backup and restore procedures.

For your Song needs start with page 90

Sorry :) cannot help with a video!!

Greetings,
From a brand new Korg Forum member.
I'm David from Toronto.
I have the floor model Micro Arranger from Long & McQuade music store while they have ordered a brand new one for me (on its way?).
Looking forward to having fun making good music.

Actually, I think the MicroArranger (MA) is shorthand version of the KORG PA50SD. All the features are very very same. The different may be just in the output. PA50SD has more powerful output, while Micro has softer output. But the advantage of MA, it's very handy to bring it to anywhere.

So my point is, if you are confused to operate the MA, and could not find the manual, then you can use the manual book for PA50SD. I think the manual book for PA50SD is already widely available, even be able to be downloaded from the KORG's website.

Happy with my improved KMA sounds and styles.

Post by david7685 »

It's my one (1) year anniversary since ordering the "Musical Resources" for the Korg MicroArranger from Senior Member John Smies.
I have never removed nor replaced them with any of the original factory settings.
I have never looked back since installing his improved sounds and styles.
The feedback when I play out on gigs
is always most positive.
Always!
Thanks, John, from another one of your many very happy users.

I was having trouble grasping the overall structure of the Korg MA system, and this video is dispelling alot of fog...

Like another poster I was having trouble understanding what a Performance is.

I've only watched 14 minutes of this 1 hour and 12 minute video and already the lights are starting to come on inside my dim dark skull!
