Considering it's £450 for the 61-key, that's a lot of keyboard for your money. It looks very nice from the top down as well, although i do think they could've been a bit more inventive with the name, I can imagine the designers at Korg thinking "it's like a Kronos, but with some of the features cut out, so let's just cut out a few letters from the word Kronos and be done with it!"
Overall, looks promising.

keyboard looks good. The video was the worst promo korg's ever had. It was like they had to put something together in few minutes.

I wonder if you can edit the audio that is recorded into the sequencer....

In Kross? I doubt, it is necessary to wait for the instruction...

Heck the M50 outshines the krosss and you can pick one of them up fo a whole lot less. Thanks but no thanks on the kross. M50 has touch screen, joy stick, dual arps. The audio in on the kross is nothing but a novelty at best. Kind of a weird entry from korg. Is it a nice board yes .Does it make any sence in the market ,definately not.

how does the m50 outshine the kross?

the kross doesn't have a joystick but it does have a REAL modulation wheel. it also has dual arps.

single arps that I am aware of. less polyphony also. no touch screen is a Huge downgrade as well. Pluss the price for lacking these great features is simply terrible. If they could have gotten the price to a reasonable point I am sure it would be not bad but given the price for what you get, no way in hades man. Just my opinion for what that is worth. Like I said why not go krome and get so very much more even if you cn not find a sweet price on a closeout of the m50. You can get an M50 for a pretty sweet price when they can be had I know lol.

I too look at this and think the extra $300 to get a Krome 61 makes so much more sense. But hey, isn't it great to see a lot of tech coming into cheaper price points. I am looking at a second keyboard for synth/pad work over my SV1 so Krome is looking more interesting (although the red Kross would be a nice visual fit).

for less than US$700, u are getting a lot, compared to others.

1) light
2) proper GUI
3) runs on batteries
4) a handle - how convenient
5) audio recording, mic in and stereo line in
6) 16part full combination mode
7) smaller than krome and $200 cheaper. as cheap as microstation/ps60/x50
8) 64 registrations can change program, combi or trigger playback of audio file
9) it can also record your performances as audio
10) step sequencer inherited from the popular Electribe series

bad
1) mic in is not XLR
2) keys probably as bad as krome's
3) krome's sounds, screen are way better
4) cannot function as audio interface

i bet kross's 61key body is sturdier than the flimsy krome

Dont forget the Krome has a 3 year warranty as standard. Something else to consider when deciding if the extra £££'s are worth it. I personally could not go back to a small screen after the Krome.

Kross

Post by chrisfp99 »

Each to their own. For me the favourites buttons make it worth having on their own. Finally a keyboard designed with live playing in mind.

And I saw a Korg demonstrator say on Youtube that when using the split button the effects from both sounds are brought into the combi. Anyone in the know care to confirm? If so this is huge for me. With today's technological advancements why the hell should I have to spend hours messing around with effects - I just want the two programs on either side of the split to sound identical to when playing them in program mode?

Actually I heard something similar from the videos. I was wondering why they got rid of the total effect, but then I heard the guy saying the effects doubles, so if there are two sounds, with 5 effect slots each, it would be 10 in total. Or something like that. I can't remember.
