Looks like my pleasure with Korgs repair was a bit premature, I'm not so sure they actually replaced anything but just tightened things up instead.
While playing tonight I noticed the same key making the same noise only not quite as much as it did originally.
The other keys have a nice dull light thud then the B above middle C makes a rattle.
I'm now very disappointed and will be contacting Korg about this as it really isn't good enough for a brand new instrument to be like this and then they fail to fix the issue properly.
I think they should address this with a recall and have a proper fix or a replacement higher quality keybed. I have clicks on some keys on my 88 too. How did the second repair go?
Kinda makes you nervous all this stuff coming out of China.
Ive mentioned this before...but within the last of 4 purchases
The Yamaha MM6/Kurzweil PC3/Krome 88/M-Audio BX8A monitors,Ive had problems whereby 3 incidents I had to take them back either for repair or exchange.
When I opened the PC3 brand new straight out of the box it wouldnt
turn on had to be taken in (the fuse was blown and the voltage adjusted to
UK standard.)and now 2 sticky keys. The MM6 brand new out of the box (the modulation wheel was broken)...Exchanged, later I sold it got the Motif XS rack instead. The Krome no repairs as of yet but distortion problems... fixed after factory reset.
The M-Audio monitors brand new out of the box one didnt work at all.

Just curious Morty, did you buy all these products from the same retailer? I've known some less than reputable dealers in the past who just "recycled" their returns until they didn't come back.

I haven't sent it back for the second repair yet, the rattles a bit less so they must have tightened something, I will however be sending at some point but I just wanted to get some use out of it first so I'm just ignoring it for now.
Thankfully Korg give the 3 year warranty so I've got time on my side at the moment.
Great keyboard though, shame about QC with the keys, seems like no one can make a decent key rack these days.

Actually no I purchased the M-Audio Bx8A in Guitar centre in Buffalo.Purchased the Kurzweil from a retailer in Oakville,On
and the other gear from Kitchener,On a very reliable store Ive dealt with for almost 20 years with no problems. I believe truly its the manufacturers flaws, anything I bought made in Japan (music gear )never had a problem.I was surprised with my recent purchase of the Roland Intagra7 was still made in Japan/I own a Roland VK8M organ module Japan and also a Yamaha Motif Xs rack...Japan no problems thus far.
Just a little feedback since the "repair".
Saddly I still have key noise clicking problem but not any more on the precise key I've indicated as the culprit.
So it seems possible to fix the problem but well maybe the tech was not a musician
Since I play mostly with a headphone I'll try to focus again on music but well you know now how it has turned.
The krome is really an outstanding instrument but the 88 keybed has, for me, definitly some build problem.
Mines starting to show signs of other keys developing this problem, thankfully it's only slight and not very noticeable, hopefully it won't get any worse.
It's a real shame cus the feel of this keybed for me is very good and very playable now I'm used to it.
I still get the odd midi disconnection from external sound modules too, I'll have to notify korg but they'll just want it sent back in for repair which is a major headache, it will go back eventually though before the warranty ends.

I wrote the Topic Krome Build Quality to the shame of the manufacture, for exactly this kind of issues. Material coming from Chine, at the best, its quality is poor while the machine functionality is flawless; at the worse it finished sent to service or resold in eBay. Some owners seemed not to agree with my post and say that for this price Krome is okay. Something like if the product is inexpensive it can suck? Not at all... IMO If the builders cannot make a decent product at this price, then, they should not do it, because this aptitude coupled with their marketing campaign, becomes a legally allowed SWINDLE! Two years ago, my brand new tubes AMP travelled to service and was replaced twice within four months. After that a new trouble sent it to a second hand shop after a new servicing. I learned later on that the machine was sent once again to service. It was a made in China machine. I would like to have respect for the chinese products, but so far I will be an idiot if I would (with very little exceptions)
See my Topic Krome Build quality. It was written to complain about the 61 model, but I see now that 88 is having its own flaws. Please KORG, what are you doing these days?
I realize this thread is 3 years old, bt I just wanted chime in and report that I'm having the same issue now with my Kross 88. It's just one key(so far) but it's E above middle C, which obviously gets used frequently, and it's becoming an annoyance.
It sounds like some you who have had serviced for this issue have had mixed results. Do you eventually get successful service? And, do they ever explain what is the underlying cause? Are there any DIY temp fixes that won't void warranty? While I'd just as soon have them fix it while it's still covered, the nearest service center is 80 miles away and the thought of driving 320 miles total for one lousy rattling key is a bit off-putting.
I realize this is a Krome forum, so apologies in advance for appearing to be off-topic.
