I remember now that somebody reported a distortion problem that went away after a factory reset.
Otherwise you will need to send it for service.
I have been quite disappointed with the build quality of KROME and even defended my negative opinion in this forum, but I have found that most of people seems to be happy in spite of all problems. So, I have no better thing to say unfortunately.

You really dont like korg do you... what do you have?
If you read my earlier post you would have read some of my complaints about the new stuff coming out of china Ive had 3 keyboards now with problems KurzweilPC3,Yamaha MM6 and now the Krome (the MM6 I replaced with the Motif XS Rack)(made in Japan). But Im not writing any of these off, still use them... we dont have much choice nowadays almost everything is made there.

Found the Distortion Problem:)
A brand new day.... started up my Krome and low and behold distortion and keys were not playing accordingly tried trouble shooting...I forgot I left an Kingston SD card in the back, as soon as I took it out... everything was fine. Now that doesnt solve the problem, but I remember awhile back I had a distortion problem of a similar circumstance and the problem was the same the SD card.So now the ?,is is the card faulty or the holder of the card the Krome??? so Ill pose the question in a post
Well I will be recording directly into my PC from now on so wont need the sd card when I play live never used it ever.
Anyways a happy camper at the moment:)
Present Gear:Kurzweil PC-3,Korg Krome 88,Yamaha Motif XS Rack,Roland Integra 7 Module,Roland VK8M Organ Module,Roland APro-800 Midi Controller

It can be that you are using the patches directly from the card and the card has a little problem. You can try to copy first the patches from the SD card to the internal memory. Another thing to do is to backup the data of the card on the PC, and format de card from the utility menu in the Krome. Then, recopy your backed files from the PC to the card and try again.
Distortion can also go with a factory reset, but you will need to first backup your machine. Therefore you need to start by doing the step of the SD card.
Good luck.
BTW: I like Korg and I did liked it on the past much more. From Poly 800 till X5D, I never experienced any problems. Key-beds were more or less good. I also owned Roland JV90, Casio CZ3000, Kurzweil K1200, Yamaha SY35, Roland E35, General Music CD10, Yamaha DX27, Casio CZ101, Organ Technics, Ketron DG20, etc. Many old stuff as you can see. Any way I am more of guitar, harmonica and bass player.
I am just disappointed with the current Korg chinese production. That's it!

Hi Ruiky... yes I agree with you totally and sad to say it's not the SD card its doing it again.Id play for an hour than it would start to distort and screw up I turn it off its fine then it will start again. If its intermittent thats a problem, cause its hard to detect but Ive only had it about 3 months so if I have to Ill take it back.
Yeah if you look back at one of my older posts Im complaining about the new keyboards out of china. So I totally agree with you totally:(

Then, I do not know what it could be. I will suggest you to send it for service.
Mine, 61 version is not having this problem. I detect some dictorsion at high levels, but never on headphones. Only on the cheapy line outputs.
In fact, mine has no problem so far excepting that I do not like the quality of the machine, specially the keys and the line outputs as I already expressed.
I have put mine on sale. I hope to recover 70 to 80 % since it is only 2/3 months old and I only used it at home and quite scared to break it
Less than that price I would keep it.
I dream of a Kronos even the old version. The X is about 3k in 61 model. Out of my scope and budget. I believe there is a maximum price for everything. As of me more than 2k5 on a board is too much.
The older Kronos is getting cheaper as is only available on NOS, but may disappear soon. Second hand is an option, but only if I can test it. I do not want more surprises with my very hard earned money.
I regret my purchase a lot. I could already have almost 50 % of what the old Kronos costs instead of this plastic-chinese-esthetic-well sounding toy, but I was too quickly seduced by the marketing as usual.
