Stock LE didn't have sampling option like the Classic or higher models. Has it been installed?

The sampling option isn't necessary to load samples, just the RAM. But you will only be able to load samples in Korg format.

Even then they will only really be useful (outside of drum kits) if you have also mapped them to a multisample.

So you need a .KMP with associated folder full of KSF files.

The sampling option does allow you to record and map samples, convert to Korg format etc, but on the LE and TR screen is fairly slow and painful process. If you have a PC (not a mac) then a piece of software like AWave Studio is a better investment.

You need to go into program mode, and assign the sample as an oscillator to a program.

You should have at least one or more init programs on the TR and LE. They are at the end of the last bank and are good starting point for programming new sounds, but ultimately you will probably have to overwrite some of the factory sounds that you are less keen on.

Also keep in mind that samples have to be loaded again into memory every time you power it on, and in the same order if you want them to still work properly with the same programs you made that use them.

New to this forum, considering buying a TR off my local Craigslist. After powering on, do these samples automatically load, or is it something i have to do manually each time I power on? Thanks.

you have to save pcg file and reload it each time you switch it on, the simms are volatile memory not flash memory so everything except patch editing i.e progs are lost

PCG is actually the 'patch editing' settings (PCG stands for Program, Combination, Global). So it is actually the KMPs that you have to reload at every power on (and this autoloads the associated KSFs for each one if they are in the right place). The trick is though that you have to load them all in the same order so they match up to the sample slots selected in the programs you have loaded.

You can also save all sampling data and just load that one file at startup once you have built a sample set you are happy with.
