which? Kronos or Krome 61? can they input ARP into DAW?

Post by samta »

Hi bros, i am planning a buy a new one, yesterday i tried PA600(as i want to get it at the beginning), after i played the krome which next to PA600, i fall in love into it, the voice is superb great, i found lots of nice program in combi mode too. So i think i will forget PA600 first.

The main question is, i want to know can both krome or kronos input the ARP midi signal into DAW eg logic pro? i really need this function as i would use the on board drum pattern/guitar strumming or ARP to do my song in logic pro, like when i play c chord, the DAW can detect the ARP midi and enter all the notes automatically.

Besides, i really like the keybed on kronos 61 rather than krome 61, I thought kronos should be same as krome, so...please advise buddies, thanks a lot!!!

yes that's easy to do on a Kronos, just activate the KARMA engine on a Kronos and select the Kronos Keyboard 1 as midi input in your DAW. Then every note or CC is transfered to a track lane in your DAW.

you can also use it to use KARMA arpeggiators on VST's or other hardware synths if you want.

Oh great, that means alls even drum pattern(midi signal) can be inputed too? Does anyone use kronos to make song actually? I just wonder as it is hard to edit note on the little screen

The screen is not small when compared to other keyboard workstations, but there is no piano roll notes editing screen on KRONOS any way. I guess most of the real time recording is done on KRONOS, and then transfer to computer for final detailed editing/tweaking, OR some use their own DAWs.

If you want to have full control over your arpeggios, then you should go with Krome. Kronos has KARMA which is way better than an arpeggiator, but you just can't program your own arpeggio the exact way you want it in a typical workflow for arpeggios... unless you buy additional software: KARMA for Kronos.
