The Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 is a nice USB interface with 2 inputs for about $150.00.
There are cheaper ones and of course many more expensive ones. It really depends on your needs. Also consider what you might need in the future as you might want to get something with more I/O that will allow for growth.

With only a USB connection you can record midi data in your DAW but not audio. You need some type of audio interface for that. You might be able to use the built in sound card but the sound quality might not be as good as an interface with better A/D converters.cXrus wrote:Does this mean i cant record anything into my DAW?
I see, thanks for clarifying.
Can i find out from you guys if there's a setting on the Krome to configure it to connect to my laptop. As mentioned above, i intend to use it to record MIDI.
I am having trouble connecting the Krome to Ableton, it doesnt pick it up even after i have installed and ensured that my driver is updated.

Go into the Krome driver and select 32bit only and see if that works.
Also there is a utility program that needs to be installed that activates your Krome driver every time the CPU is started (or every time the Krome is connected...can't remember which). Otherwise Windows just uses the standard windows USB driver...
After you get all that set up you might need a restart before the settings take effect.
