Well, this thread is well over a year old, so for me things have moved on quite a bit since I started the thread. I have since formatted my W500 and installed Windows 8 on it. Under Windows 8 everything is much faster, and I find I'm able to place the tablet under a much heavier load when it comes to VSTi's vs what I could do under Windows 7.What vst are you running on these win tablets, how many and what latency ?
The main things I'm running on the W500 are....
AKAI EIE Pro for Sampling.
Extreme Sample Converter
Samplelord (Streaming samples)
Linux Sampler (Windows version for streaming libraries) 32GB Library.
Superwave P8
OPX Pro II
KORG M1 and Wavestation.
Latency, I'm not sure what I'm getting. I don't feel any, so I never bother even checking.
Chances are any Win8 tablet will do many times that.Actually I'm looking for the cheapest win8 tablet that will run at least a single synth and 1-2 fx, with a latency of about 10 msec (or about 256 samples).
My W500 is as fluid as an iPad. That being said, I'm upgrading because this has all worked out so well for me. I've ordered one of the new ACER W700 tablets last Sunday from Amazon. I'm expecting to have it by Thursday. I've gone for the i5 version with 128GB SSD.Also what is the touch latency on these, on an ipad I find it pretty low.I would like to play the vst irectly from the talet.
Regards
Sharp.
