If you don't mind a little work you could get any AKAI format sample CD, I'm positive there should be a few classic D50 ones. There are also a couple of free D50 soundfonts floating around. Sharp recreated the famous Pizzagogo sound, it's in the download section I think.

I haven't seen any collections created specifically for the Kronos.

I'm in the process of creating two D50 libraries for the KRONOS.

The first one will be released very soon on the forum as a donation-ware download. People can download it freely, and leave a little something if they choose. It will contain all 8 banks of the D50 factory presets.

The second will be a commercial library. I'm recreating many of the famous sounds we would have heard in music from that era, plus many totally original ones. This one won't be released for a while though. I haven't even started sampling on this one yet. I'm still creating the actual patches on the D50.

There is a dealer on eBay that sells soundfont samples of the D50.
I think his username is amazound or something close to that. Each library costs around $10? Or he has deals for multiple purchases. Delivery is by download.
I think there is a Youtube video showing his sounds too.

I have a D-50 and I was thinking of sampling the PCM partials so that you could use them in HD-1 sort of like a real D-50. I don't know how feasible that would be...

I took a chance and bought the D-50 soundset from the e-bay dealer mentioned and while some of the sounds came out OK the person who did this soundset never bothered to loop any of the sounds.

Sorry
I'm just about done. I have all the sounds looped and inside the KRONOS right now. I'm only tweaking effects and filters at this stage.

Thanks for the info. I had not purchased myself so it's good to know they are raw/unlooped. I guess for the price that might be okay, but I would prefer them to be completely usable without having to do more to them too.

What do they say? "The cheap comes out expensive."

To be honest, I wasn't that big of a fan when the D50 came out. I still preferred my DX7IIs and a Roland R70 over it then. And now, it's all Kronos, VSynthGT & Alchemy.

But I will check out the Sharp set when it comes! :)

No need to apologize, I will start on another project for the Kronos and move the D50 project to the Solaris platform instead. No need to duplicate your efforts.

A quick update.

I've completed the D50 library and I'm just starting to upload to the IA server right now.

Your download size will be 940MB in RAR format spread over 4 parts. Unpacked it's 1.58GB of data. Streaming on the KRONOS uses 244MB of Ram. All the samples are looped, programs use filters, and I've even gone to the bother to replicate the D50 effects. This is very detailed work.

When it's up on IA, I'll post the link to the page. My upload speeds are much lower than normal tonight for some odd reason, so worst case this will be available to download in the morning. If my connection speeds resume back to their normal speeds, it will be available tonight.

Ok, it's online.

Because of the very large file size and the expectation that many people will download this, you may get an error when trying to go to the link above. If you do, please try again later as I will be turning on and off this download to balance the bandwidth usage.
