STS weird Problem
hello, i'm new to this forum, and this is my first post. its a bit long, but thank you for your time.
I purchased last sunday my Korg pa3x and already playd 2 gigs with it.
Because i had 3 korg keyboards before, and specially, the pa800, it wasn't hard at all.
To the PROBLEM:
Basicly, when i change styles, the STS's dont change correctly.
e.g. i work on 2 styles:
STYLE1: STS1-BRASS, STS2-SAX, STS3-GUITAR, STS4-CLARINET
STYLE2: STS1-BRASS, STS2-SAX, STS3-SYNTH, STS4-GUITAR
I switchd styles 1 and 2 a few times. now i get the full style1 STS setup while on style2, i go again to 1, then to 2, and nothing changes... still on STS of style 1
I'm lucky i had evreything saved as perform. that saved my gig...
I came home and started to think how its possible.
My first thoght was its a compatibility problem. so i edited the styles and resaved them + edited the STS and resaved them to. now thay ware "created" by the 3x. they are not pa800 any more..
Now i sat down to play and paid attention carefully to the changes in STS's.
BAMM... Again the same thing but now i realized its not consistant i.e. i go from style 1 >style 2> style 3, and on style 3 i get the STS of style 1 - but only on STS 3\4, STS 1 and 2 remain correct...
i kept playng around and again wrong STS... this time only 4 is wrong..
the next time, guess what? all of them go wrong....
This was very intresting, so i kept investigating it..
Important to mention:
1. All errors are random: 1 error >3 correct> 1 error> 7 correct....
2. This happens only on user styles, not on factory styles.
3. My KBD came with the latest software version 1.6
I have contacted my dealler and he said he will look into it.
I've never seen such a thing before, does anyone of you folks have an idea what can this be? as far as i see, the KBD works perfectly, amazing sound, i had a grate time with it..
What in the world can this be???
Again, sorry for writingso long and in such detail.
i REALY appreciate your patiance and time to read this post.
Thanks.

I am sure you checked the status of the "STS Mode" button.
If you wish, I am happy to test these on my PA3X - just let me know and I'll PM my contact details.
Cheers
Pete

here are the pictures of this situation
this is style 2 with the wrong STS's - they belong to style 1
*** IMAGES REMOVED - inappropriate adult website ***
this is style 1 with the correct STS's
and here is style 2 with the STS's the way they should be.

Mozart was a great arranger too!
sorry..
i made a mistake, I'm VERY sorry, and it won't happen again.
has anyone heard of such a problem with the sts?
any clue what i can do to prevent it?
the keyboard is only 1 week old.. i contacted the dealer, and he said he'd look into it.
i hope i find some way to solve it.
sorry again for my mistake.

just a little update
I tried to update the OS from korgpa.com and thw sts problem happened only once more and then stopped.
It's been a few days already that the KBD is working properly.
Very interesting because its brand new, and when you turn it on, it says OS version 1.60 which is the latest.
Anyway, i updated the OS and it seems to solve the problem.
I have a gig today with the pa3x, and i hope it goes well with no problems.
Wierd thing, but I'm happy it works ok for now.

hey duby2!
thanks for your response.
have you had this sts problem to, and solved it by reconnecting the battery?
or were there some other issues solved this way?
What you say is very interesting, because I have a friend that had a similar problem with the sts, and over time he had the keyboard "gone crazy" on some other stuff as well. e. g. styles not playing correctly, he selects one style, and a different on plays instead...
he bought the keyboard in the us, but lives here in Israel. he tried to contact the korg official distributer in Israel, so far no success in solving the problem. he's still got warranty in usa, the problem is shipping it back and forth , which will cost him quite expensive. I'll let him know about this solution.
thats the reason i was so frustrated, I started to worry my problem will extend like his did, happily i just went through annother successful gig with my pa3x. i really enjoy this keyboard.
Anyway, thank you duby2 for sharing your experience. and I'll be grateful if you would give here some more information about what problems you solved by reinstalling the battery.
all the best,
Leib.

you have nothing to lose
I do not remember all what was wrong with my Pa3x ,, you would have to do a search on the korg forums to see what i said ,, I never had a battery problems , but the battery hold on to the error ,, when the pa3x load up or boot up or after it is running and some thing get load wrong or someting get Mess up , some how , to me this is were the battery come in , the battery is just for sample ram and maybe to hold Musical Resources ,, and all I can remember now is , when the pa3x would go crazy or something did not work right , I would just do ( back up all file ) and do a factory reset and then load the back up and all way good again ,, but after doing factory reset all the time , I start to pull the battley off and wait 5 min and put it back on and it fix it all ... I carry spare usb , that is a factory reset ssd ,and would just change it , but still the problem ,, and again , still not working right ,, but pull the battery and then back in ,, and it work fine ,, so I do not know what is wrong ,,, maybe AntonySharmman ior or Paolo@Korg know , I just know it work for me ,,, I could be all wrong ,, but it still work ,,,
Leib is cost nothing , you have nothing to lose..but let us all know what you fine out ,,

ram
I see on page 253 in the manual ,before you removing the ram module , there is a switch ,, you must turn it off position first before takeing out the ram module ,, i will put my battery back in and wait till the next time my pa3x goes crazy , then i will try just to turn of the ram , and reboot ,,and see if it work right again , again i do not know if it is the ram module that holding the error or some other ram chip in the keyboard , i could be wrong altogther,,
