Korg Krome and external Sound Module

Post by michobo »

Hello

I've Korg Krome (works as Masterkeyboard) and Roland Integra-7 Sound Module
I can Play with Integra without problems from Krome's keyboard but not from embedded sequencer

Hot tp setup my instruments to play Roland Integra from Korg's sequencer too? I've SMF file which has been done on Integra...
What to do ?

Michal,

To enable Krome sequencer to control a external instrument, go to page P3: Track Param and for channels you want to be played on Integra 7, set "status" to EX2. This enable KROME to play these channels on Integra 7. If you want a channel to be played by internal Krome sound generator, set it to INT.

By the way, how you compare Integra 7 sounds to Krome? I am interested on Guitars and Woodwinds sounds.

Thanks,

Paulo

Thank you for you reply !

Integra is VERY good Sound Module. Have rich and very high quality voices. I think so this is my the best instrument now.
If you change 44.1 (default) to 96 kHz in menu - Sound is even more rich, crisp (studio quality I think )

If you like, I can send you RAW file from Integra to listen. I can record it by my arranger (bk7m) so quality well be little lower but still high (44.100 and 16 bit - Integra works on 96 kHz and 24 bit)
On the web you can listen only mp3 samples... :(

Integra is very well build (like old HiFi equipment) Metal case, brushed alluminium front with high quality knobs and controllers. Integra has been made in Japan - thats why I think. I can recommend this equipment but its hard to find. Even today, near year after lunch day.

One dissapoinment is WiFi-dongle made by Netgear /sold by Roland/. After few minutes goes to sleep and my iPad dont see Integra. You must manualy try to wake-up USB-WiFi-dongle for example by change WiFi channel.
Integra leave about 2 meters away from my router so I dont know why its happend. Maybe future update will fix it...

If you know something more, please ask...

Sounds are better on Integra. Piano is almost the same but overall Integra offer much more and most of voices is better in Integra
I can recommend this stuff

Hello Michal,

If possible, I would like to get some records from Integra 7. You can send me to nambuco67@gmail.com. Thanks.

The BK7M is also on my wish list. I could replace my PSR910 by this module and a pair of monitors. The only concern I have is my library of Yamaha styles / MIDIs that will not wokr well on Roland Arranger. Does Roland has good style library?

Thanks,

Paulo

Today a i bought an Integra 7.

Before buying it tested the Korg Krome extensively as i was pretty curious about it.

I can tell you with all honesty possible, there is absolutely no comparison between the acoustic instruments on the integra and on the krome.
The krome is a joke.
What a dissapointment it was playing it at the store.
The guitars especially are terrible.
In fact, almost all the sound set sounds exactly like the triton extreme and even the original triton. There are LOTS of repeated patches from the first Triton on the krome especially on the pads.
There are some pretty cool combis but that's about it.

The Integra on the other hand.. Wow.. What a sound! I think this is the best sounding "rompler" board ever (especially on the acoustic instruments).

Ps: I also tried the kingkorg and really loved it! GREAT sounding VA, GREAT sounding filters. Really smooth sound. When you pump the valve with some basses.. wow.. it's sounds really amazing. I'm gonna say, not the best because it's too soon, but one of the best VA's ever made imo.

Hello.
I purchased an I-7 a few months back. My first impressions were disappointing. However, the more comfortable I became with it, the more I appreciate it. It also has many "repeated" and/or similar sounds. But this is a Korg Krome forum, so enough said about the module.

That said--I still LOVE my Krome! Sure there are shortcomings, but the sounds are fantastic, the features a great, and the "user" support is great. It would be even better if more Korg support was available and if it had a better keybed. But for the price, I wouldn't trade it.

Hello

Did Integra have program similar to Kromes "Analong strings" ? Im looking it on Integra but its very hard ...6000 patches :)

In my home studio, Korg works as a Masterkeyboard and sequencer for Integra. KorgKrome have many good combi programs

King Korg - its very good instrument BUT have a high voltage vacuum tube (for overdrive effect I think) which must be replaced by service. Im affraid so in the near few years, this component may not be available for replace...

From KingKorg's Manual
"
About the vacuum tube
The lifespan of a vacuum tube is not uniform. If the vacuum tube should
burn out, please contact a Korg service center.
All adjustments and servicing, including replacement of the vacuum tube,
must be performed by a professional."

Hi Nambyco67,

I have Intergra 7, paired with Yamaha PSR S910. Last few months, I bought Korg Krome 73 (for travelling work). I have found that Krome offers better sound comparing to Intergra 7, that I can tell. If you are good at sound custom you would create very amazing sounds from Krome (using Combi and Internal Effects). You will do not need Intergra7 for any late products like Korg M3 or Krome.

The tube in my Triton Extreme has already lasted for ten years or so. It's also a very standard 12AX7 of which every guitar store will stock at least a dozen.

You have to be really biased to say this. The krome sounds like a toy compared to the integra on the acoustic sounds.
Not on the same league.

Intergra have FULL 24 bit architecture (about 130 dB dynamics!) and 96 kHz s.freq Krome only 16 bit/44.1

Some patches of the Korg sound great but Integra have many more good sounds.

Overall - both of them are great instruments

Hello James, what I miss in my Krome is really good acoustic sounds. Saxphone, Flute and Guitar on my S910 is better than Krome. At other hand, Krome has a amazing Piano, EPs, and other Synth sounds. Combis are also a great feature from Krome.

Did you explored these acoustic sounds on Krome and compared with Integra 7?

Unfortunately almost all synth sounds are recycled from older korgs, there are some good ones namely pads but almost all are old korg stuff.
The combis are cool but if the base sounds aren't good it's hard to justify a buy.
