Hello! I hope someone can help me.
I think the hard drive in my Triton is going bad and I have never created a backup of it.
How do you backup all the data on the Triton's hard drive to a PC? Is this possible by performing a "Data Dump All"? Does this function also save the operating system?
I have MIDI-OX and a midi interface.
I've been reading the BASIC and PARAMETER guides but I am very confused. It only seems to refer to the patches, sequences, etc.
It also refers to a MIDI Filer which I have no idea what that means.
Can anyone here help me out?
Thanks! Ed
URGENT- How to save contents of hard drive

The hard drive on the Triton Studio is a laptop IDE hard drive.
I suggest that you open up your triton studio, remove the hard drive, and with the appropriate adapter, hook it up to a PC.
The reason why I say this is because you can get programs on the PC that can deal with problematic hard drives.
Once you have it hooked up, you simply copy all the files onto your PC.
Your other more expensive option is to get one of those SCSI to USB adapters that are compatible with the triton studio and access the hard drive contents that way.

Data Dump All: this only dumps, via SysEx MIDI data, the contents of the current Triton. In other words, the programs, combis, songs etc. that you presently have loaded. It does not dump all the many other files that you may have stored on your HD. You might have many PCG files of different states of your machine. None of these would be transmitted.
I don't know the Triton Studio back-panel interface. I gather from the other person's response that there is not a USB port for plugging in a USB stick, but rather SCSI. If this is the case, then his suggestion to you makes the most sense (about the SCSI to USB adaptor). I personally would opt for that option rather than disassembling the Triton and removing the HD. If you can mount the HD on your computer via USB, you can copy all the contents of the HD. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies.
I didn't know that the HD in the Triton is simply a laptop IDE drive.
The Triton Studio does not have a USB port. Only SCSI, m-Lan, MIDI and an optical port.
As for getting to the HD inside, I opened up Studio (very carefully I might add), and I couldn't even find the HD. I'm assuming it's located somewhere near the floppy and CD drives but I didn't want to take it apart further. I'll leave that to a tech.
So....the "DUMP ALL" function only dumps the contents of memory and doesn't even touch the HD? That stinks.
Does anyone know if it's possible to copy all the folders and files on the HD to the built-in CD burner? I want to save the contents of the HD before taking it to a tech as you never know what they'll do with it.
Thanks...Ed

I do not know which Triton Studio you have, but mine is a 61 key.EdK wrote:

On mine, the hard drive is located close to the floppy drive. It is at the same level vertically, but towards the back of the triton studio.

Well, that's all it was supposed to do. You could load different PCG files and dump them one by one...EdK wrote:So....the "DUMP ALL" function only dumps the contents of memory and doesn't even touch the HD? That stinks.
Absolutely you should be able to do that. I can't tell you how, but I bet the manuals have that info in them.Does anyone know if it's possible to copy all the folders and files on the HD to the built-in CD burner? Copying HDD Contents To CDD
Copying or saving your hard drive contents to your cd drive is very simple. You must format your cd(s) before hand using your cd drive.
Feel free to PM if you need instructions. The procedures in the Parameter Guide are correct (I did this just last evening).
