Do I get the PA3x now or wait ?

Post by Flemming M »

Hi. I have a Pa2xpro - 76 key with xms sounds installed. It worked very well, but the keyboard is 4 years old. I consider too bay a Pa3x - 76. There are a few used for sale on ebay. But dó I wait for a Pa4 x ? I can see the new Pa900 is coming now, and is that the beging of new models ?
Sorry my bad Danish/English but I like my PA2xPRO :-)

Like others say; Nobody really knows the future models, exept Korg themselves.. I never played the PA2x, but I really like the soundpossibilities and features of the PA3x..

What's the longest you are willing to wait? A year? Two years? Three?

That's your decision...

2004 PA1X
2007 PA2XPro
2011 PA3XPro

Looks like a 3-4 year window, so if the schedule continues (no guarantee of that, though, while the global economy still slumps) you are looking at 1-2 years minimum.

I'm in the same situation. I like the pa3x a lot but I'm going to wait to see what the next generation is to the Tyros before I make up my mind. Already the new psr 950 has audio drums so that's a likely inclusion in the X Yamaha TOTL arranger. I'd guess its due in the next 12 months. If I had to buy today I'd probably get the Pa3x Pro. I like its ergonomics and build quality.

Will be interesting - I wonder if it will actually be a new generation.

Would love to see the back of that aging PSR/Tyros OS. I wonder if Ketron Audya will ever rear its head again?? I guess Roland could be on the cards for a pro arranger - the BKs seem to be receiving good reviews. Would be great to be a fly on the wall at all their marketing meetings!!!

If Audya had more US support I'd highly consider it, especially because of the 76 keys. And it comes with a lot of styles and many additional are available. But I'm afraid to go out on a limb with the limited support. I like Roland for their sound but I don't think the BK keyboard series is as ergonomic as it should be. That's why I sold the Bk7m module I used with my Kronos. Regarding Yammy, most of the rumors seem to be that the Tyros name will be replaced for a new line of flagship arranger and, regardless of their faults, they are fine keyboards with excellent sound quality. I think it's a safe bet it will be black. Maybe Korg should do like they did with the Kronos to update earlier with an expanded "x" version. Come out sooner with a pa3x X or Triple X and give it more modern styles and add more high quality articulated patches. IMHO, the pa3x body hardware and functionality is close to perfect. But I wish there were more and better sounds/styles without me having to create them myself.

Yes!! I have been in the same boat since Audya was announced - there is no support here in Australia (despite what anyone may say!!) - I couldn't even get to see & touch one!! - Still can't!!!
Plus Audya had so many problems for so long but the concept of it and early demos did get my mouth watering....

Yammy - yes I heard they were calling it "Zeus" (probably just a rumour)

Agree except, I am quite happy with the styles - always have been but of course we all have different requirements etc..etc..
PA3X sounds are a "mix" for me - many are great and hard to beat and some just not very usable - I have still yet to hear a keyboard with really authentic distorted/overdrive guitars.
I now love my PA3X-76 and Kronos combination - if all of that was in one keyboard ..... hmmmmm.... dream on Pete.

Cheers Hal

Yeah Pete, that is an awesome combination and they look good together too. I really like the feel of the pa3x keys. And the location of the pattern/fill/etc buttons is perfect to my liking. Some of the boards out there make it difficult to accurately press buttons and change controls on the fly. I don't want to use more than three pedals, either. I may end up buying this pa3x-76 in the end. Hal

That's one hell of a combination, I wish I could afford that - just for the studio setup... Unfortunately that cost money, so I better go do a live gig on thuersday... New scenario comin' up, wish me luck! ;)

About the styles, I wish there's more rock styles - runrig, floyd, ect. available for the pa3x.. They release oriental-version, and most sets are made in eastern-europe... Are we really that few playing "western" musik? Finding real material it's like searching for one needle in a haystack...

I'm calling fellow :verycool: "Is there anybody out there"! ;)

Nice weekend to my fellow korgies!! :3dcool:

Well firstly, I definitely wish you the best of luck.

Yep, it's an awesome combination but I had to part with some gear and other things to afford it.
The great thing is that I went for the Kronos-61 and the PA3X-76 becomes an awesome MIDI controller keyboard (but of course I use the PA3X as it should be used too!!)

Cheers
