One of my big complaints about the KP3 when it came out was that all the synth functions came with a long and loud (and, as far as I can tell, entirely pointless) delay that renders said synths completely useless musically, and can't seem to be turned off (one would think turning down the FX release would fix it, but not so much).
Upon getting a KP3+ and looking through the functions, I find that it too comes with a few synth functions. Cool, I thought, maybe they did something about that horrible delay. Nope. Still there. One synth has a faster delay, but they all have it. Is there any hidden function that turns off the synth delay?
By the way, is there anyone out there who actually likes this delay? Was I the only one not celebrating this aspect of the original KP3? Who was the Korg employee that thought it'd be really cool to have a long, loud delay on the KP3's synth sounds, that makes it impossible to play any kind of melody without it coming out sounding like a complete muddled mess? Who decided this person shouldn't get fired, and furthermore, who decided this feature should be kept around for the plus variant years later?
Sorry if I come off as a bit snippy, but I'm just terribly confused by this. I can't think of any practical upside to the synth delay. It makes no sense to me at all. Frankly, I'm not sure I get the justification for having full "FX release" on everything by default either, but at least that can be turned down.
So regarding that synth delay... (KP3 & KP3+)

1. Hold Shift and move the slider down. This removes the delay not just on the synths but on any other programs.
I also own an original kp3 and have never really found much use for these synths. You're better off connecting a kaossilator (any of its incarnations) if you want some synth action going on.

The synth patches on the KP3 are basically wasted program space, but not as worthless as the drum loop ones. Maybe they sell more units when they aren't hooked to anything else in the store if people can noodle around with the pad and make noises, but that stuff gets old fast. They sound too saturated in delay, loud, "hardcore" and near-identical to be of much use outside of swooshy background noises for DnB. The delay is the aural equivalent of pouring salt on rotten meat.
I'd recommend an analog or modeling synth if you want good, customizable synth sounds, or maybe that Kaossilator Pro if you like presets and mediocrity.
