'Amp Model' has malfunctioned!?

Post by geovicsha »

Hey guys,

I noticed the other day when messing around with my SV-1 (which admittedly I know seldom about after browsing these forums) that the Amp Model function no longer works.

Anytime I enable it, regardless of which Amp model, it plays for a split second and then disables itself - like it is short circuiting. Afterwards, when I play, all I hear is clunking noises. :(

I have the second soundpack installed. Any advise? Reset the thing or is it a hardware fault?

Thanks!

There could be a problem with the valve - which is only used by the Amp Model function.

Unfortunately, as detailed in other threads on this forum, replacing the valve is significantly more awkward than it should be, so you're probably best off getting a tech to look at it - particularly if it's still under warranty.

Did you buy it new? IF so, send that back for warranty. Nice thing is that you know it is the valve based on that. If not under warranty, there is a detailed service manual that shows exactly how to take it apart- but honestly- I wouldn't even consider it- and you can't just swap out the valve board without recalibrating it anyways (at least that is what I assume as there is an adjustment pot on it). So, pay for it to be fixed.
