Wavestation wish list sysex export support as well as import

Post by teesquared »

Greetings,

I am using the WS VST a lot in my compositions. I find the WS hardware and software versions to be inspirational. WS and EMU Proteus VX are my main VST synths and I also have hardware editions.

Many of my songs are 12-14 midi tracks before vocals. With that many vst's running I am running into latency problems cracks pops and slow playback. Therefore I cannot master from the PC. (Mainly thanks to the Windows USB driver)

I've decided to use my hardware instead of the vst's and there are some great sounds in the KLC WS especially the KLC bank, but although some of the files appear in sysex files available on the internet its not all of them.
VST are great for quick writing and arranging but for mastering and live I want to use hardware. Therefore sysex export as well as import would be indespensible even if only available in the full KLC collection it would be worth it. There are editors and librarians around but none of them can read WS.Ram file formats.

I've tried the longhand way copying manually each parameter with mainly poor results. I get a usable sound, but its not the one in the KLC bank or any other WS VST banks.

The ones I am working on at the moment are synth***strings (Found in a sysex from the internet)
Chordmemory and MinorBella. This is just for one song.

Has anyone got a good work around?

I understand that Korg wants to sell new products, but their old "sound" is not dead and what better advertisement for their new products than to have their older hardware supported in the modern day computer music age.

If the Korg development team truly do not want to add this functionality, how about opening up the KLC legacy software to the open developer community and let them add functionality working closely with Korg if required?

Thoughts, comments , HELP!

Best regards
