Some Doubts on Korg Pa600
Hi all,
Would be thankful if you could help me with the below queries.
1. My friend gave few styles from his yamaha psr series in .STY format. Can we load it in pa600? If not is there a work around?
2. If we change the sounds the lower and upper two voices are not changing. For eg, If im playing a guitar voice and change it to strings, the backing and upper 1 and 2 are still the same as it was in guitar. How do we change the voices along with the factory preset backing voices.
Thanks,
Darryl

Hi Darryl
1. The Yamaha and Korg files are not compatible. You need to use a software to convert them, but none of the existing software are easy to use and none give very good results.
2. Not sure to understand what you try to do, but just reading the 5 first pages of the manual should help you a lot to understand the way to use the different modes of this powerful arranger. I confirm that you can assign exactly the sound you want to the part you want, just in case you doubted about it

Hi Darryl,
Even though I play the Pa3x, I think the same goes for PA600..
I've actually managed some good results with EMC Styleworks, (styleconverter). You have to do some tweaking of the style though to make it sound like you want (unless you prefer the GM-instruments). That can be done in "style-record-mode". It takes a little getting used to, but after a couple of times, this will be done pretty quickly.

In Yamaha PSRs when you toggle between each Sound (Voices) category the recently used voices can be played. In a way it was easier... Missing that in Korg Pa600 cos i have to select individual sound. just selecting the sound category does not trigger the recently played sound in that category..
Any opinions...

While it is not possible for Sounds, the desired feature is available for Performances and Styles (Global -> General Controls, Interface tab), check the checkboxes Auto Select Style / Performance.
Maybe Korg could implement this in a future update also for sounds?
But of course, there are no hardware buttons for Sounds/Styles.
(Being a first time arranger user, I don't really miss them)

I use this feature to give me instant 1 button access to 8 favorite performances. I've saved multiple favorites to 8 performance pages. Then all I need to do is pre-select which performances I want for a tune or medley. I've reserved Page 5 within each performance group for my favorites. Makes it easier to quickly punch up a configuration.Mudi2000 wrote:While it is not possible for Sounds, the desired feature is available for Performances and Styles (Global -> General Controls, Interface tab), check the checkboxes Auto Select Style / Performance.

By the way, a performance is a super-set of a sound so you can create performances that are just a single sound. As the PA600 does not have direct sound bank buttons it makes sense to me to only have this feature for performances.

Agree. But though there are no hardware buttons we have the option to select the sounds category via the LCD screen. BTW LCD touchscreen is super cool and it just makes the build very simple and neatMudi2000 wrote:While it is not possible for Sounds, the desired feature is available for Performances and Styles (Global -> General Controls, Interface tab), check the checkboxes Auto Select Style / Performance.
