Hello I have always wondered what is the best method to time slice a sample and have it synched and looped automatically to a pad. Heres the scenario...I have a nice percusion loop solo sample. Maybe 5 seconds long. I want to have this as a pad. I go to time slice it and its just a mess. Is there a way to time slice it and just have it played automatically?

I have some experience in sampling loops for making styles and pads. To get good results I follow these steps:
1. I use some editing software like Soundforge to edit the loop. The idea is cut out one measure which is in tempo and plays flawlessly when played as a loop. I save this measure as a new file.
2. I import it into pa3x and do time slice. Setting the correct tempo is very important during this process. Also I try to adjust the levels so that I don't get too many slices. In my experience 8-20 slices are generally good to work with.
3. Once I achieve the required slicing I save the sample as user sound. At this stage pa3x automatically generates a midi groove and keeps it in memory until the keyboard is turned off.
4. Without turning off the keyboard I create a new style or pad and use the user sound that was saved and import the midi groove.
Using above process I get very good results. Most important step is no. 1 above. I spend a lot of time on this to get a perfect loop.
