how do you load samples?

Post by Ryumexicano »

Hey guys, sorry I posted in the Kronos forum. My friend brought me a Krome keyboard not a Kronos lol. I don't know how to put my samples into his keyboard. I know the format is different then the tritons right? All my samples are in KMP, KSC, etc format. How can I convert my samples so I can put them in his keyboard. I told him it would be quick, but I never thought Krome was another keyboard. I only handled M3s, Tritons, but this one I haven't although I saw videos on how to load samples and is practically the same as my Triton extreme. I am just confused with format of samples. He specifically wants my Latin sounds but I guess Triton samples wont work there. He also has to load everytime he turns keyboard on right--samples?

Please any help is appreciate it. If I have the Triton sample what format should I have for Krome? How much can I fit in the SD card, meaning how big of an SD does Krome accept?

Thanks!!

AFAIK all of the Korg workstations (and even arrangers) use the same sample format - the KMP/KSF format used by the Triton and others. It is only the sound engine and parameters that differ between product series - so whilst they all use PCG format for patch data, you'd be unable to load a PCG from the Triton in an M3 or Krome. But you can load an M3 PCG into the Krome and you can load an OASYS PCG into the Kronos.

Anyway, to my knowledge the Krome does not have a sampling feature. So you won't be able to load any new samples at all - only programs that use the ROM samples built-in can be loaded.
Current Gear: Kronos 61, RADIAS-R, Volca Bass, ESX-1, microKorg, MS2000B, R3, Kaossilator Pro +, MiniKP, AX3000B, nanoKontrol, nanoPad MK II,
Other Mfgrs: Moog Sub37, Roland Boutique JX03, Novation MiniNova, Akai APC40, MOTU MIDI TimePiece 2, ART Pro VLA, Focusrite Saffire Pro 40.
Past Gear: Korg Karma, TR61, Poly800, EA-1, ER-1, ES-1, Kawai K1, Novation ReMote37SL, Boss GT-6B
Software: NI Komplete 10 Ultimate, Arturia V Collection, Ableton Live 9. Apple OSX El Capitan on 15" MacBook Pro

Ouch! Well, that sucks to hear. I will keep searching if there is anything to add old school sounds. All my triton samples are in KMP format. Damn, thanks for your time though. I will keep searching and see if there is anything.

Apparently there is an undocumented feature that allows samples to be loaded. There is a discussion in these threads.

Thank you for your post! I really appreciate your answer. I had to ask my friend to take his keyboard back because I can't load samples yet to his keyboard. Weird thing is that Samash recommended him that keyboard because it could read samples, mmmm weird.

I am really amazed by the work of Tom on that thread. Incredible! Thanks!

Korg in Peru is offering a sample pack with latin samples including percussion sets , Gabbanelli acordion, and other latin sounds.

I think they are selling them if you aren't from peru, their facebook page is korg Planet Peru, also in the Krome section of this forum some user had them and maybe could share them with you.

You can also download the official Korg M1 sounds from Korg's Krome page that includes samples of this widely used synth in Mexico.

Saludos!

I confirm :

Loading custom samples on your krome is not officially supported by Korg.

They only released the M1 pack that add PCM samples to an optional memory.
but...but...but...

In fact, I have studied the file structure of the PERU pack (and confirm my analysis on the M1 Pacj) in order to write a tool that would allow me to generate my own sample pack...

So, my message is : IT IS NOW POSSIBLE...Just check my website about the krome.
