RE: Logic Environment for Korg Kronos
Hi Guys
complete newbie here so apologies if i do anything wrong
but has anyone or done anything with setting up the environment for Korg Kronos. Love some of the sounds the kronos produces, but shame i cant use it when I load midi into logic.
Does the editor help? or will I have to make sure I plug a kronos in to export the sounds?
Let me know! quite keen on this :0

Re: RE: Logic Environment for Korg Kronos
I have been building some different environments for the Kronos depending on my needs. But you don't even need a complex environment to use midi in Logic with Kronos.SHAZAM21 wrote:Hi Guys

The editor can do some things a little more efficiently but isn't needed to have full communication between Logic and Kronos.
What are you trying to do? I don't understand the "plug it in to export sounds" part.

Re: RE: Logic Environment for Korg Kronos
I only use Logic's environment for selecting patches/banks. I've never bothered with any editing functions... Korg's Sysex is just so awkward to implement, and there's not enough control via CC's (as for the editor...well 'nuff said!!!)SHAZAM21 wrote:Hi Guys

Hey guys! thanks for all your replies appreciate it!
I use my kronos as a midi keyboard, but can't seem to access any of the kronos amazingly beautiful sounds and put it in my recording as midi form.
When I say export, basically if i can access the kronos sound library remotely so that I don't have to always make sure I have the kronos with me (I have a 88 key and its such a hassle to move it around at times).
I tend to do alot of my logic pro work remotely. So if I heard a kronos sound that id like to use it, I can still access it in my media library.
I'd also was wondering whether I can plug any midi keyboard and still be able to make it sound like im playing the kronos.
I don't know if what i'm saying sounds too good to be true, but if it works itll be really awesome!
thanks in advance! appreciate your replies!

It is too good to be true. Why would owning a Kronos give your computer access to all of it's sounds without the keyboard? I am not even sure how you think that might work.
If you sampled all of the sounds you like on the Kronos and created instruments in the EXS24 you would come closer to what your talking about.

Well, KRONOS is not just a MIDI controller keyboard, it's a sound generator as well. So, you will need KRONOS connected to your computer all the time to get those sounds when playing MIDI tracks.SHAZAM21 wrote:Hey guys! thanks for all your replies appreciate it!

What you have to do is to record the sound from KRONOS as audio tracks one by one, like you record your guitars and other instruments. Then, you can disconnect KRONOS and playback the song from logic with KRONOS sounds captured as audio tracks.
Roland Fantom-G6 ARX1, Korg M3-m exb-Radias, Korg Z1-18v, Roland MC-808, Roland MC-909, Korg microKontrol.

SHAZAM21,
Although the Kronos is midi compatible, in order to get the amazing sounds of Kronos in Logic you must record in audio. And it cannot be converted to midi form if you record in audio. You also can use the Kronos as a midi controller for any & all sounds in Logic which I know you are also looking to do because midi is easily edited but when you are on this forum guys like us find it hard to understand why a great machine like Kronos would be used as a midi controller when it already produces so many great sounds on its own.
Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Logic, Kronos and VST
In logic I record in audio files. Other than printing score I'm open to ideas on midi integration with logic. I've been exploring it using the editor and am getting more confused than anything. A tech consultant where I bought my Kronos tells me I need to use it as a "VST"? What that is, how to do it, adjusting settings in both instruments, time synching, etc? I'm open to suggestions and will continue to record audio in the meantime. Recording on the Kronos is going well, more conceptual than visual (logic) and it takes some getting used to, but all the features are there. I usually end up with hybrid recordings in logic, some tracks recorded directly to Kronos, others then added in logic in real time. Thanks for any advice.
I really do love the instrument. The sounds, the features, the action...all are fabulous.

Re: Logic, Kronos and VST
Gaston see my post to you in your other question on this. VST is a type of plug-in, but they are wrong in telling you that. Logic prefers AU (Audio Units) for a plug in. The editor has an AU plug-in that will work with Logic, but you don't need it to be able to communicate between them.Gaston wrote:In logic I record in audio files. Recording Audio from Sequence Mode
Is it possible to record Audio rather than Midi from Sequence mode into Logic Pro X? I am figuring out (slowly) how to get Midi for each track into Logic but I fear once it's imported in I will be unhappy with the data and want my Kronos sound. Also has anyone ever had an issue where they are recording midi tracks in sequence mode (recording one track at a time) and the instrument for a specific track you are recording changes. I have a track using a bouzouki in one of my sequence songs and every time I try to record it in Logic Pro the instrument reverts back to German Grand. It seems to be the oddest thing.
Re: Recording Audio from Sequence Mode
I would suggest checking your sequencer data - sounds like there is a program change in there.Theshae wrote:Is it possible to record Audio rather than Midi from Sequence mode into Logic Pro X?
