Hello! I have a vintage KAOSS Pad 1 and like it, but would rather use a more elegant (and less bulky) software version. I see that the iMS-20 virtual synth for iOS has two built-in KAOSS Pads, but what I haven't been able to figure out is if I can use them for external signals - as opposed to modulating only the iMS-20 output. Ideally I would like to be able to have up to four simultaneous modifiers: pitch (octave up or down), lopass, tremolo (or whatever that's called in synth lingo) and maybe a noise overlay.
Still seeking the final words on audio, independently of MIDI. Specifically, one of the signals I'd like to modify is the audio output of the Roland VP-550 choral synthesizer (what they call "vocal and ensemble keyboard"). The built-in pitch bend on that instrument is limited to a whole tone, which makes sense if you want to keep the vocoder sounding human. But I'd like to bypass that and probe the limits with an external controller. That's where the iMS-20 and its KAOSS Pads might come in handy, if I knew for sure it were possible.
I do not believe that the iMS20 can accept an external audio signal. It has the External Signal Processor patch section but I think all you can do is use it for some internal feedback effects.
